Avoid all petroleum based products (most proprietory brands) - they leach the skin of oils and vit d.

Use almond oil or any light oil - much better and more effective.

Don't forget your skin (or your son's) is hydrated from the inside, and most dry skin problems may be due to a lack of some basic trace elements, fats, minerals or vitamins.

If your son's diet consists mostly of processed or packet food, try excluding everything except home cooked food for at least a month, and include plenty of a variety of meats, fruits, vegetables and starches. Do not use any low fat or reduced fat varieties of foods for him.

Do give him plenty of water and full fat milk to drink - and don't give him lots of fruit juice.

Good luck with him.

Moisturiser is just fine for a child.

What you need is a non-perfumed non-greasy product.

Just read the back of the products and find exactly that. you won't be able to go wrong.

Cheap products are usually best. You could try 'Simple' which seems to fit the above description.

A young child having skin problems, it could be the Propylene Glycol, a highly damaging chemical found in many personal care products,as a chemist I watch out for any bad chemicals on the labels and here are some of them : Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Propylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol,Petroleum, Mineral Oil,FD&C, Polyquaternium, these are common ones for your safety. I use natural fruit oils such as Avocado Oil, Flaxseed Oil,(can be found in GNC),flaxseed oil have lignans that are plant antioxidants, omega fatty 3 acids which are found in salmon and is virtually a perfect moisturizer for dry and othe rproblematic skin issues, remember natural is the key! the key to internal health as well as no stress, drink lots of tap water simply by boiling it and letting it cool, contains rich minerals!

What you should try is retinol cream. You can go to a vitamin world or a health food store and they have retinol cream. Retinol cream is Vitamin A which is very healthy for the skin. There is no harmful chemicals that will have a negative effect on his young skin. And with it being a cream it will not be greasey on the skin. This cream is good for the whole family.

At walmart, they have DML lotion that is over the counter, but you have to ask for it at the pharmacy. They may even have to order it for you. It is about $8 for the small bottle, but it lasts a while and works good. It is fragrance free and non greasy. I use it on my daughters eczema. I hope this will help you. Or, ask your pediatrician.

Larson's Heavy Duty Lotion works great on kids and adults. My 13 year old daughter uses it and we have friends with younger girls who love it too. They even have a great testimonial from a 4 year olds mother on their site. The product really seemed to help her.
