no...and there is no 'test' draft. the only thing we have to worry about is the democrats they are the ones wanting a draft but the majority of the republicans and president bush don't.

We don't need a draft. Currently, there are about 1 million people in the U.S. military. In addition, there are 110,000 plus people in the Individual Ready Reserve (people who have served a portion of an 8 year obligation that all service members are held to), which was put into place to avoid a draft once we went to a volunteer military in the '70s. If the military needs more people, they'll recruit more (recruiters are still hitting their quotas) or start pulling from the IRR as well as national guard and reserves. In addition, many of the state side desk jobs in the military are being backfilled with civilians so the armed and trained troops can go where the action is. That's part of Rumsfeld's transformation project, which I think makes sense, even if I don't believe in his war tactics.

There is no such thing as a 'test draft.' I'll only have to go back if they call me up in IRR before my 8 year enlistment anniversary in 2008.

There is no test draft .
If the draft is reinstated , it will take an approval by congress .
I'm already in the army , and would like to see more people join , but I don't think a draft will happen .

We are about to embark on a plan to send more troops overseas. With the military being stretched as far as it is, we must bring the draft back to insure our safety on the home front. With the draft in place, that would make the children of those who are waging war eligible and this will probably result in a quicker end to the war.

I think Congress will try to make it happen. But, I also believe that until and unless 12-20 million illegal aliens are incarcerated or deported, not one American Citizen should be drafted and we should all ignore the draft. Why fight for a country's government that is handing it over to illegal aliens? Draft all the illegals and see if they are willing to die for the USA and the right to stay here.

No I don't think there will be a draft. I see no need for a draft and it will cause more problems that it will benefit. I've already served (volunteered), and now I'm too old.

If the ultra right wing gets it's way, there will most certainly be a draft. It will train the poor and middle class young to obey the president, while the well off will be alone to fill colleges.

I dont have to worry about a draft I already served my country. I think the ones(males) worried about this are the ones who take there freedom for granted. I do however think this is a bullshit war and you can thank bush for that. I believe all healthy Males should have to serve atleast two years. It helps you grow and learn many things

well, America did have a draft in some war..but i don't really think that america would be that desperate of soldiers in wars. in drafts, it is mandatory to enlist in the Army/Navy/Marines/Air Force. You cannot back down. In the Civil War, they used to use alternates to go into war for them, if they pay them a good sum of money.

I think the draft will be re-instated, and all American males must sign up on their 18th birthday. It doesn't necessarily mean you'll get called up, but your name WILL be in the hat.
