I'd like to know why the religious people who ask that question come here if they can just ask God for their answers.

Because a lot of the questions are ignorant tirades against atheism or evolution about which I know a very great deal more than the askers, so I feel duty bound to humiliate them into submission. Many questions are also ignorant about Christianity, so likewise. It's a fun place to be!
And what laptop Jesus says is true. I'm here because the subject of religion and the questions religions ask interest me enormously. I have a very advanced relationship with the same idea of God that theists have. Mine only differs in that I have concluded that it is an idea based on no tangible existence.

There are no true Atheists: Everyone believes in something.
A God, an idea, themselves.
But the search for God is the extention of the eternal human question, why do I exist, is this all that I am, is there nothing more? What is the purpose of life, how do I live forever???
Thus the search for God is the search for one's true self.

Why are you so blind to what an atheist is? greater to the factor in case you don't understand what an atheist is why are you so illiberal, hate crammed, bigoted and persecuting in direction of them?! ATHEIST - somebody who does not have faith in a God – any God – no longer in basic terms the Christian one. yet that doesn't propose they do no longer carry good ethical or non secular ideals! they might stick to any faith that doesn't have a god and there are fairly some those! Like BUDDHISM – non secular coaching from Buddha and his followers that via destroying greed, hatred and fantasy (the clarification for all suffering) guy can attain suitable enlightenment! Anti atheism is doing lots injury to Christianity that it quite is relatively anti Christianity – David Manley It takes relatively in basic terms one to make a quarrel. it quite is ineffective for the sheep to pass resolutions in favour of vegetarianism, at the same time as the wolf keeps to be of a various opinion. - William Ralph Inge. Why so blind to what reasons the backlash against christianity? all the different religions and atheists stay in peace and are in basic terms attacked via undesirable christians which reasons all good christians to melancholy on the wear and tear they do! Up till approximately forty years back Christianity replaced into thriving and there replaced into no conflict with others yet in basically those few short years the favorite christians have become illiberal, hate crammed, bigoted and persecuting ensuing in a transforming into backlash against christianity and inflicting christianity to loose over ten p.c. in below a decade with the loss accelerating! The self destruction of Christianity is underway and the only element that could end it quite is to desert the undesirable human thoughts, seek for to rediscover the assumption of a loving god and act like it! Posts like yours that rigidity people extra faraway from God are utilising you in direction of hell. So who're you working for the devil or the antichrist through fact it useful ain't the loving god!

Well, I tried talking about atheism in the Makeup and Beauty fourm, and no one got it. All your reasons are correct, and it does seem that a lot of the conflict on this planet is attributable to religion. The Middle East springs to mind in that context. So, yes it is definitely worthy of continued discussion. Good show.

As long as Christianity, as well as several of the other "ultimate truths", have as their end and gleefully sought after goal, the END OF THE WORLD, and as long as they believe that their rights are being violated if they are denied the opportunity to use the coercive power of the state to shove their god down every ones throat, you will have to put up with us being in your face. Why should we abandon a forum where we can let you know that you will not be allowed to carry out the silly "End Times" rubbish that you seem to forget would include the rest of us.

Don't tell me that the Christmas Tree at the courthouse is causing you emotion pain. Or that In God we Trust on money has caused your bank account to fail. OH woe is you. The Christians have been around quite awhile and it is only this generation that is crying the blues. What is important to you? Infringing on the rights of the Christians?

Because it is in The Spirit of things-I am a realist-Atheist is like calling me the "N" word as I do not conform to its representation-I believe in what I can grasp hold and deliver into your thoughts and mind as evidence of existing-of being-religions try to subvert you into believing in something that can TRY your thought process-and this is the first step into brain-washing-get the victim to believe that they are a part of the process. So they will choose to salvage a life in Heaven-while believing that they can use up this worlds resources and be forgiven for it. Like being fruitful and multiplying in Gods name-insanity in a world that is losing her life to our over-population!

As an atheist I have to say that I agree with you. However I also come here out of curiosity. Religion fascinates me. To study it from a historical, anthropological, and scientific perspective is absolutely enthralling. And I get lots of good tips from people of all religions on books that examine the Bible from all sorts of perspectives.Hope you had a great day!

To learn! I come here to learn! To learn more about people I have nothing spiritually in common with... or common sensically (is that even a word?!) in common... I wish to make my brain more limber so as to wrap around concepts and ideals more easily. I poke you in the tummy or side with my finger. Have a shpadoinkle day/evening/night/whatever.

I usually answer with this:
"Since you are only the 256th person who asks this today, I can understand how you must have missed the other similar questions.
I'm an Atheist, and I am here for many reasons.
1) I have a Christian girlfriend and I want to learn more about her religion.
2) I have lived all my life in Holland, an Atheist country. In Holland all sorts of things are allowed like gay marriage, abortion, euthasia. I see these things as basic human rights. At the same time I see that all these things are far from basic human rights in many other countries, under the pressure of the religious voice.
3) It is a proven fact that Atheist countries like Sweden, Norway, Holland, etc, etc have more human societies than a religious country like the USA. The Atheist countries have lower murder rates, up to 300% lower STD rates just to name a few.
4) Inspite of the fact that again yesterday 40,000 kids died of starvation and aids, people still claim that God heals diseases. They post video's online with all sorts of 'miracle healings' and claim that as proof of the existence of God. There will be people watching that nonsense and stop their medication. There will be people watching it, stopping their medication and therefore they will die. They will die because they saw this video and based on it they will make a wrong decision. The claim "God heals", kills people. It's as simple as that.
To put it short: It's needed to educate the religious people how bad religion is for this planet. I want a better planet for my future children. That's why I'm here."
