This just happened. I saw 15-20 cars pass this woman as she waved for help before I was able to get to her. The majority of the drivers that passed her were men. I couldn't believe it. She was heavy and unattractive, do you think someone would have stopped faster if she was thin and cute?

A few more details:

She had stopped earlier at a service station because her car was making a strange noise. The man at the service station didn't shut and latch the hood and it blew up and hit her windshield. It was obvious she needed help. She also had children in the car.

I wanted to put this question out there because I was so stunned on the behavior of so many people. Maybe people reading this will think twice about passing someone by that may need their help.

Who wants to be the knight in shining armour to an ugly chick? You might think im being an *** but you wanted a real peek into the mentality of a typical man.... There you go.

unfortunately people have been lured to stop by women with children who pretended to be stranded. Then from out of no where a male conks them on the head and robs them. This has happened more than once. As incredible as it sounds this has happened where there was literally no place for the male to hide. Yet he was hidden.

I use my cell phone (without stopping) and call 911 or the local police and report this as a stranded vehicle with a woman and child giving location and as best a description as I can. They are very good about sending out an officer to investigate and get the person any help they may need.

Sadly, she would have gotten help faster if she was hot. However, if she was less helpless she wouldn't have needed someone elses help, women need to know how to fix their own problems. I know that I made a trip once 1000 miles in a piece of junk car and was out of the car at least 50 times on the side of the road and not one person stopped or offered to help. (I'm a good looking guy) In fine weather, no rain, warm, not one person stopped (even the guy that almost hit me when the radiator exploaded)

My husband's ex divorced him over 30 years in the past....in no way met her...in no way observed a photographs of her...wouldn;t understand her from a hollow interior the wall...and because many 'broken down' people on the fringe of the line are no longer respectable yet risky characters, the respond isn't any.

It's scary to help someone these days - you never know what they're on, or if it's some kind of setup. Since it was a woman, I'd probably have stopped; I have to say that I don't know that I would have stopped if it had been a man, but I would certainly have at least called for help. Being a fairly heavy person myself and female, I know that my size does have an impact on how people see me, and unfortuantely she probably has that same experience too often.

of course I would stop. I once was stranded in my car for more than 5 hours (I was a cute young college student at the time) and I was on a freeway-inner lane. multitudes of cars passed by and at least 2 cops. Go figure. A$$h@le$ are just a$$h@le$.

Thanks for being a good samaritan.

I have a friend (a woman in her late fourties) who pulled over to help a stranded woman with a baby in her arms. My friend was robbed at gunpoint. That baby in her arms didn't make the situation safe.

As a woman myself, I don't want anyone BUT the police stopping to help me.

Use your cell phone and call the police, but don't stop.

if I wasn't on my way to work or some emergency or something, I'd stop and let her use my phone, not much else I could do.

I've been in that position before late at night out near a lake I ran out of gas, my sister was with me, we are both "thin and cute" but no one stopped, until after our parents pulled up behind us to help, then someone stopped behind them and asked if they needed help.. what kind of BS is that! lol

They probably would have stopped if she had been cute, but you my friend are a true gentleman and good Samaritan. May the Lord Bless You and Keep You in His Hand.

situation determines whether I help or not, looks have nothing to do with it. If I saw no other cars stopped then yes I would have stopped.
