No, it's not general anesthesia, it's IV sedation. They give you something called Verced that makes you sleepy and altogether happy and dreamy, but you're not really "out" in the way you would be for general anesthesia. With sedation you will probably snooze, but you can be woken up easily to move, open wider, etc. It's not a dangerous form of sedation with the risks that general anesthesia has.

"Normal" dentists do not use general anesthesia. As for the question of whether anesthesia is an option, I think that depends on the dentist. Some will refer you to an oral surgeon. I had a wisdom tooth pulled with only local anesthesia. It really wasn't bad.....until the numbness wore off, but that would be the same for general anesthesia as well.

A general anesthesia can only be administered by an oral surgeon. I have had this done, but it is better not to go with a general unless it is absolutely necessary. There is a much greater risk of complications. Most dentists are not trained to do this. I won't tell you it will not hurt. It doesn't when they do it, but afterward it most likely will. This will happen no matter how it gets done. In a day or so, you will be fine.

nicely, at the start you do no longer could have a repeat cesarean. you could stay with this healthcare expert-no rely what he desires, they won't do something to you with out your consent so which you will in basic terms refuse a cesarean in case you go with for or you will discover yet another healthcare expert that's greater open to a VBAC (Vaginal beginning After Cesarean). That reported, my first chlid replaced into born by skill of emergency cesarean section. i replaced into under ordinary anesthesia. I ignored listening to her first cries, and it took longer till now i ought to have her in my palms. additionally, sure-this on occasion crosses over and motives the toddler to be born sleepy that should wind up with a NICU stay for monitoring. My 2nd chlid replaced into born by skill of a effective VBAC (with out discomfort drugs). With my third toddler, we envisioned yet another VBAC, yet she, too, replaced into born by skill of emergency cesarean. This time, I had a spinal extremely than ordinary anesthesia. I do pretty recommend the spinal! i replaced into very alert for the duration of the delivery, and replaced into retaining and nursing her interior a million/2 an hour. in case you're having a planned cesarean, i do no longer even think of they are going to use ordinary anesthesia. that's oftentimes reserved for while there is no time to manage an epidural or spinal. needless to say, whether that's planned there will be time so the final could no longer additionally be an decision for you. I wish you the main suitable!

I think a general anesthesia is administered by an anesthesiologist, that's why it's so expensive.
You'll be fine. Your dentist does this all the time.

You don't have to go under GA -- it's just more comfortable if you do. Your mom is right -- it's more expensive, so, you might just have to go with a local. The dentist IS the one who administers the GA. Hopefully your one of those people without a zillion nerve endings who gets numbed easily, so your recovery will be fairly comfortable. I wish you well!
