While I don't nessisarily agree, many of my fellow atheists call faith a crutch for many reasons.
Yes, you don't have to think out complex moral questions as much because the answers are already given to you.
For example: Should I leave my husband? The Bible and my pastor tells me that it's a sin to divorce, so I won't even though it will make my life hell. Us atheists (in this example) go through questions like: Is it right to divorce? What would be best for everyone involved? Am I doing this just to be selfish?
Another reason is we atheists live without the guarantee of immortality.
We live for this short time in life. We don't live with "some one to turn to". We feel good or bad based on what's happening in reality. We don't feel good from coming back from the fellowship of a church.

Everyone uses something as a crutch. From faith, to money, love, beliefs, power and anything else. The question should be: is your earthly crutch a good one?

Everybody has reasons for behaving in a civilized manner. Whether we decide it's because we want to follow Jesus, or an unbeliever decides it's because he wants to be a law abiding citizen; it all boils down to the same thing. The 10 commandments tell us the same things the laws do; don't steal; don't bear false false witness, etc; but they tell us SOO much more. They are a richer more meaningful guideline to life for the believer, not a crutch.

The only thinking that you do is thinking that you think. You do not question an anachronistic book of highly doubtful origin or validity. You do not question the rules and you do not analyse the motives of your teachers.

Your simplistic approach to life is a crutch that enables you to cope with a complex society. Your ignorance of complex matters makes it easy to criticise what you don't understand. Unfortunately, it also makes you look stupid

You are right. I don't know how a man can think without knowledge and faith.
Faith without knowledge is superstition.
Knowledge without faith is confusion.
People in these conditions keep on quarelling without end.
These are two inseparable aspects of the rational sense.
Much education is required to attain a true balance in our spiritual life.

What people do not get, who do not have the Holy Spirit is a life without Christ, is NOTHING! They are lost, even though they say they are not- for Jesus even says "Apart from ME you can do nothing" --this is so true! I would much rather have God lead me and feed me wisdom through His word than listen to any man on earth- and his philosophies- because in the end it is the WORD OF THE LORD that stands forever....and everything else falls apart---false relegion, philosophy....these do not hold the truth, and what is the truth? Jesus says "I am the only, way, TRUTH and life, and no one can come to the Father but through Me" John 14:6
What a beautiful verse- and after giving my life to Him, not only am I saved from hell and sin- but He does show me truth through His spirit- and I am amazed at God each day--I Love Him SO MUCH! People who do not know God's love, do not know how wonderful and complete HE IS. If they only knew what being complete meant....and that is through Jesus Christ. That is why we who are saved do not need to go searching for more truth- we have it! We know Jesus is the only truth! And HE SATISFIES us- we have no desire for anything else, because we are grounded and completed in HIM- because He is alive, and His word is powerful, and touches the hearts of men and women....it is alive and active, just as Hebrews 4 says. God works, and is alive---everything else has no breath- but they are worthless idols who can do nothing....Praise God for what He has done!!

Its just another daffy thing to say about Christians don't take it to heart. They have a crutch too, alcohol and drugs or sex.
