i bought a case of bottles, that will be given on Christmas, unrefrigerated from the liquor store today. i'm not a huge beer drinker, so i'm not too sure what the unrefrigerated shelf life is.

Beer will generally be good for a year after they are brewed so if you just bought it it will be good for at least a couple of months and you dont have to refridgerate it. They will last the same amount of time.

Actually, there is something to this "freshness dating" - it's not just a marketing gimmick - which was started in 1985 by the makers of Samuel Adams. Generally, the length of time it takes for a beer to become stale (i.e. the taste will seem off) is determined by the alcoholic strength and hopping level. Both alcohol and hops help preserve beer, so hoppier, stronger beers keep for longer.

Typically, the freshness period for a lager is four months. For stronger craft-brewed ales, it is five months. High-gravity, high-strength beers such as doppelbocks typically carry a six- to twelve-month freshness period.

This all assumes proper handling of the beer. The beer will stay fresh longer if kept in a cool, dimly-lit place, like a cellar.

The date should be on the carton, but if you just purchased it, it should be good for at least 5-6 months.

Depends on whether it was pasteurized or not. Coors does not last unless refrigerated.

They'll be fine.

If they don't have an expiration date, there's no need to worry.
