I understand that many people believe god to exist on faith. But from God's perspective, how would that be more desirable than making himself obvious to everyone? Why request faith when you could give people knowledge? If people could just see God and converse with him (prayer is not a conversation) and interact with him, I think it would draw more followers who were more loyal to the cause. If faith is the path to God, I don't understand why God would want it that way.

I understand it- Not only because of what Exodus 33 says, about if God showed Himself, it would kill us, just looking at HIm because His glory is so powerful and bright. AND faith is absolutely wonderful! I am GLAD God designed it this way- just as Jesus says:

John 20:29
Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

-And Jesus IS God- therefore many back then did see God- through Jesus- just as Jesus says again:

John 14:9
Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'?

-But blessed are those who HAVE NOT seen and STILL believe! Amen to that!

A similar question would be: why did God create the forbidden fruit in the garden of Eden if He will forbid Adam and Eve to eat it? Actually, this question bothered me also for some time. Why do we humans need to experience hardships when God, being the most powerful, can just save us instantly. It was only recently that I found the answer to this question.

God did that because He loves us. He did not want us to be saved from the flames of hell without learning life's lessons. He want us to learn to have faith in Him. He loves us so He gives us the choice whether we want to have faith in Him or despise Him. God created the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden because He wanted to give Adam and Eve a choice whether they want to follow Him or not.

True, faith is the path to God, and it is hard to obtain faith. God id just testing us if we really love Him. If we really do, we can really achieve it. God will not use His powers to forcibly inject faith in us because He wants us to have faith in Him in our own will.

I hope you understand.

If the human consciousness could see God and converse with Him, then Jesus would not have been needed to teach us and show us the way out of human conditions. It must be to God that there is no silence between Himself and His creation, its just that He didn't create the mortal illusion of a man, but rather the spiritual man.

Romans 1-19/21 all things have known God before. "God dwells within you as you." When we descended into earth expression dividing from the one into the many, we see through the eyes of duality. Losing the awareness of our unity with God in unconditional love within our hearts. "Faith" is but the dim memory of God within our hearts, prompting us to wake up. "Faith" is knowing though not yet seen. Religions of the world have held people in bondage. True teachers of God wake you up and set you free, fully aware of your unity with God. They may allow you to serve them for a time, but that is your desire, for in time they, like the bird, will give you the experience an practices you need then kick you out of the nest to fly on your own.

Same reason why the celebs/rich have such a hard time keeping/building relationships. They are never quite sure if they are loved for who they are deep down, or if they are just followed/loved for their money/power. Also, by being here on this earth we have all followed God. Now it is just a matter of who REALLY cares for him.....

Jesus said, "If you have seen me, you have seen the Father." The Bible says, "God is a Spirit." You can't see Him, but you can see the evidence of His presence. Jesus also said, "There are none so blind as those who will not see." The Bible also says, "Seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened." Are you seeking, or rejecting God on "blind faith."

What is the definition of faith?
Hebrews 11:1 "What is faith? It is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen. It is the certainty that what we hope for is waiting for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead."

Jesus is the source of faith. Luke 17:5 "One day the apostles said to the Lord, 'We need more faith; tell us how to get it.'" Romans 10:17 says, "Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the Word of Christ."

Real faith is believing in what Christ has done for us. Romans 5:1 "So now, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith in his promises, we can have real peace with Him because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us."

Faith is trusting God in everything. Hebrews 10:38 "And those whose faith has made them good in God's sight must live by faith, trusting Him in everything. Otherwise, if they shrink back, God will have no pleasure in them."

Weak faith can become strong faith with God's help. Mark 9:24 "The father instantly replied, 'I do have faith; oh, help me to have more!'"

He has made Him very available to us, We refuse to look. He gave us 66 Books to read and He sent His son to show us the way. When you read the bible faithfully, He will become clearer to you. He rewards those that diligently seek Him. Treasure Hunts are fun, go search for God and see what happens.

Obviously because it's man-made construct in the first place. And the men who created this had to come up with some way to explain why we cannot ever actually see god.

By the way -- You do realize that not a single fundamentalist Christian is going to suddenly change his/her belief system because of your post, right?
