You do not have to be religious or belong to any organization, but listen to Bible Scripture.

Jesus Christ said, "I am the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE, and no one comes to the Father, except by Me."

Jesus is God in the flesh, and Jesus died on a cross to take away our sins, Jesus was buried and Jesus was resurrected the third day.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes on Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

You must believe in what Jesus Christ did on that Cross for you.
You were dead in your sins until sinless Christ bought you back at the price of his crucifixion on that Cross. God said without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins. Jesus' sinless blood saved us from eternal hell. Satan, Adam and Eve had man living in sin with no hope of eternal life, until God emptied Himself and became flesh as Jesus Christ and went to that Cross of Calvary to purchase us back. This is God's free gift to us and nothing you can do will win you eternal life. It is a free gift of God. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. That simple.

Read the Bible. Start with the Book of John, then read Matthew, Mark or Luke. Even James, I or II Peter if you want to read really short books will help you understand the Lord.

Being a good person doesn't get you to heaven. Accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior and knowing Him gets you to heaven. God said we must either accept His Son Jesus Christ or deny His Son Jesus Christ. This is our choice. We choose heaven or hell.

Every religion is somebody's interpretation of what it should be like. That is why there are so many of them. Your personal relationship with God is what counts. If you don't enjoy the scripted gatherings provided in a church, then by all means don't feel like you have to go there every week and put money in their colletion plate so you can hear someone else's interpretation of what your religious beliefs should be. You can choose the good things you want to do in your life without "organized religion".

well, what would be the purpose of life now, if there was no hope of something greater to come? if we just died and slipped into a non-existant void. what would be the point??? As a Christian, i have hope and a promise of Heaven. God loves everyone VERY much, and He sent His son, Jesus, to die in place of us, becuase everyone sins and all sins have a consequence, Jesus paid our consequence by dying for our sins and He rose from the grave to conquer death, so we don't have to be afraid. (John 3:16) Just believe that Jesus paid for your sins and pray to God to recieve the free gift of His forgiveness and you will have a hope of going to Heaven when you die. (Romans 1:16) God is the reason I live, and many other ppl. He gives me strength when i can't go on. He gives me peace in the midst of chaos. God gives me everything I have, and He is GOOD. even though bad things might happen, He always promises to take care of His children. (Isaiah 43:1-3)
God Bless :-)

What is the reason for which you are here? My purpose is to honor God as my Lord and Savior. I cannot do that perfectly, but being a good person is not my ticket to heaven. Jesus paid the cost of that ticket for me because He loves me. Religion turns some people off, but its purpose is to help people get to know and love God. So, I go to church for that purpose and I enjoy it. If church is a drudgery, reexamine your reason for attending. Is it to honor and praise the God who will give you eternal life?
We all must recognize that it is not about us.

"The universe has a beginning." Please show this. additionally: Please define your words (universe, beginning). Your argument in basic terms helps a declare that this actual 4-dimensional spacetime continuum had a beginning. "even regardless of the indisputable fact that that's self-obtrusive that issues that start up have a reason" No. that's intuitively assumed. that doesn't inevitably make it suitable. Human instinct notoriously fails to comply with certainty whilst coping with the very great or the very small. Please show that this "reason", whether one is needed, would desire to be a personified entity with limitless awareness and capability, particularly than in basic terms a actual regulation of nature. additionally, please clarify why your "deity" has the characteristic of no longer requiring a beginning, in assessment to (in accordance to you) each thing else. And, as has been pronounced limitless situations with regards on your final paragraphs, C.S. Lewis forgot an option in his checklist: Lunatic, demon, lord, or (it particularly is the single he very surely surpassed over) fable. Lewis' assumption that Jesus no longer in basic terms existed (which I admit is in all risk), yet additionally in actuality did declare to be the Hebrew god made flesh (that's at terrific tenuously supported through the Bible, and has no self sustaining historic backup) constitutes the single greatest flaw in that pathetic argument.

there can be only one version of the truth.
no one can argue that point.
we're all just trying to figure it out.
being a good person is independent of theism.
and not everyone believes "we're here for a reason and that god exists" .... it's not about us.

---- thumbs down -----
how many versions of the truth can there be?

You state that "god exists"... Have any proof to back up that ridiculous claim?
And I mean actual, credible, testable proof?
I'm guessing not because in the history of the world, NO one has had such proof.
But hey, if you do, think of the fame!

No, you don't have to believe in God or Gods. Many people don't. But what you should do is figure out what you do believe.
