We disagreed on money owed (by a friend who broke her neck-I was picking something up for her) & I started to leave, he said he would call the police, I said go ahead & walked out, pretty peeved, got in my car, looked onto the street for on-coming traffic, put it in reverse, stepped on the gas to back out and get on the road(I was parked against a curb), then out pops the guy from the back of my car, he was crouched down with a pen& paper taking down my license plate number-I couldn't see him until he jumped out. The car didn't touch him but the complaint was that I tried to run him over. I left & returned to my friend's house. She said she spoke to him & he said that due to his mental anguish of almost being run-over by me, he filed a commplaint for his "mental injuries". He also said he would drop all charges but it would cost me $400.00. I called him to tell him I'd be glad to pay him what was owed ($5.00 was all) and he said about the same as he said to my friend... that he would drop all charges BUT it would cost me $400. A detective called me today and got my side of what happened.
I would love to see everyone's comments on whether you think the case will go to trial or should I sue him and the place of business where he works and where this happened for slander and extortion.

This is a case that will never see a courtroom. He's basically trying to extort money from you. Poor traumatized little baby.

Why has your society become some litigious ? Something like this would never happen in UK. It's so sad.
