It should say on the package but usually frontline and advantage can be applied after they are 8 weeks old. Alternatives are flea shampoos but the dont last more than a couple of days. The best thing is Frontline or Advantage. They may cost more but they last for a month, rather than having to bathe them every few days to keep them under control. Also you need to treat the dog's bedding, yard and your house for fleas in order to get rid of them. If not the puppies will just keep getting fleas. Good luck and Happy Holidays

Read the packaging that the advantage comes in, it should say. Or a just ask your vet. Do NOT use flea collars on him/her because this can cause skin problems. If he/she has fleas i suggest you bath him/her with warm water and use a gentle hand soap. But bathe only once, bathing too much will dry out her skin. You can also buy a flea comb, sold at wal-mart and target, it's a very fine toothed comb that will pull out the fleas.

GAHHH!!
no, please do NOT use dish-detergent on any dog or pup!!

it is only used to remove OIL from animals, as in Petroleum - it is Way, Way too harsh to use as 'shampoo'! jeepers...

for fleas on any very young pups, WASH THE BEDDING in extremely hot water, then dry it well; fleas and their eggs are easily dessicated.

on the pups, any MILD dog-shampoo is just fine; the fleas will DROWN, U need not 'poison' them OR the puppies!!

in a pinch, the ORIGINAL 'Murphy's Veg Oil Soap' - SOAP, not any of their other products! - can be used on the pups.

cut the soap-concentration: use an empty shampoo bottle, pour abt 1/4 full of soap, add 2x as much plain tap-water, and mix gently. Just roll the bottle, closed and held sideways, in Ur hands; if U shake it, U'll have a bottle full of SUDS, very difficult to use.

wet the pup's NECK first; put a nice, thick collar of suds around their neck, ALL the way: under their chin, behind both ears, all the way round.

Let that STAND, and then begin gently wetting their body and dribble some diluted-soap onto them. Work uop a lather and hold them so they don't lick it off; it takes about 5 minutes to 10 minutes to drown the fleas.

the water should be 'baby-bottle temp', so U don't chill the pups; do ONE puppy at a time, put the clean dry pups in a separate box from the 'un-washed' ones.

be sure the pups are well-RINSED, and well-DRIED - any trace of soap is very irritating to their skin, and any damp spots can chill a pup quickly.

HOW OLD are the babies? they should be at least 3 weeks old, even for a very careful first-bath. their EYES should be open; be very careful to use a FACECLOTH to clean their faces, not too wet, so they don't get any soap in their delicate eyes Or Ears!!

cradling chest/cupping their butts to pick them up is safer than wrapping one hand around their ribs: a baby who gets scared may try to wriggle out of Ur hands, and infants can be badly hurt in a fall.

a clean CRATE with a dry towel draped over it, to block drafts, is a safe place to re-assemble them as they get cleaned/dried.

Sorry don't know about Advantage.

But, what I always did was add one chopped up clove of garlic to each meal. Fleas do NOT like the smell. I learned about it when my adult daughter was very young and had an allergy to fleas. It works really well for dogs, cats and humans.

Good luck with your baby.
