13.5 is a good average.

I have a Goose and Duckdown one in winter but have to have a really thin one in Summer.

They should make Duvets that velcro together so you can add or take off depending on the weather!

RE:
What tog rating should my duvet have to last all year round?

My house is boiling so I only have a 9 tog duvet and use a hot water bottle on the cold nights.
Normal heating - get a 13.5 tog and wear less in bed if it's too warm.

13 tog is for winter warmth. If you get a dual one, usually 4 tog for summer, 9 tog for autumn. Clip them together and you have 13 tog for winter. It's not just the tog that is important. Also consider the filling. If you can afford it, pure goose down is the very best. Duck down is second best and then there are feathers, or combination of feathers and down and then the synthetics. I find the natural downs or feathers are much better, but at the end of the day it is personal choice.

I use two,a 10.5 which can be combined with a 2.5 tog in the same duvet cover and suits all seasons.

the higher the tog rating the warmer so it is really up to you and how much you feel the cold but there is one well actually two together that you can buy and you can use both together or remove one

I always find that 13.5 is great. For the winter use it with a blanket and for the summer remove the blanket. It ultimately depends on where you live and the type of house you live in so this is just a good all round average. Hope it helps

it depends on how warm you like your duvet. you know that ikea sell duvets that are detachable. so when u are cold in winter you attach the two duvets together (they are both of diiferent togs) and when u are warm in summer when you detach one of the duvets. i hope that helps.
