Please report this person above me ^^^ for point gaming! Thanks!
Nice punishment for the rape victim too. "And now he's your husband forever."
Oh I forgot! Women don't count as "people." Nevermind, my bad!

THAT is "God's beautiful morals"? A guy rapes a girl - probably at knifepoint, or gunpoint, and it would be OK to pay her father fifty bucks,( or whatever silver shekels are going for these days) and then she gets forced to marry the bum, with no possibility of divorce. I wonder how many women -virgins or otherwise - you could find who'd be ok with marrying the very man who had inflicted upon them one of the most vile acts of abuse short of murder?
If that would be "God's" "beautiful moral solution" in the case of a virgin, I wonder what fate would be prescribed for a non-virgin, especially some helpless old woman? (who get raped too, you know).
I sure do hope that no religion-minded judge ever attempts to use one of those "biblical solutions" to resolve a rape case in court. I guarantee he wouldn't be a judge for long afterwards

I don't think this would fly today. You are talking about a time when the custom were very different then today. By marrying her he did not disgrace the woman. Sex for women in those days was not to be taken lightly. If you read Leviticus chapter 18 you will see a lot of what God has to say about sex. (NIV) Also, you left out Deuteronomy 22.30 , if you think God is easy with sex. It was not uncommon to pay a father money or receive a dowry for marrying a girl in those days.

These days there would be no excuse for a rapist to try this as a defense.
Back then, there was a reason why God put this law into effect.
If a woman was raped, she was considered by the community as tainted, and unmarriable. She would be destitute the rest of her life.
By forcing the rapist to marry her, and never being allowed to divorce her, God makes provision for her by forcing the jerk to provide for her.
To rape her and leave her destitute would force her into extreme poverty and hopelessness. She wouldn't have anyone to care for her after her parents died.

Believe it or not there was once a time that people did go by these laws, just as in some court rooms in the South it was OK to hang black black men for even looking at black women and no one was arrested because 9 out of ten the judge was one of the Klansman who helped hang him. Now every time you see a famous black man he is married to a white woman... I'm black so no offense my people. Time changes, laws changed in the bible just as they change in the world... it's called The Old Testament and The New...

As of the current exchange rate 50 new Israeli shekels converts to $11.93 US. I don't know too many fathers who would be too flattered to receive $11.93 to get their daughter raped. I don't think it would razzle dazzle the judge too much either. I think that Christian rapist would preach himself right into the slammer assuming the girl's father didn't decide to liberate his brains via a .44 magnum lobotomy.

i may just go on a raping rampage, if i can find enough shekels...
but the real problem here is that once again we find christians defending the religion by saying that this was "of the culture of the day" and is no longer relevent. unfortunately what they don't see is that in order for that one passage to be considered irrelevent, the rest of it has to be considered equally as irrelevent. even the descriptions of jesus, god, and salvation.

Apparently God's law is perfect, so the judge would have to agree or die.
It's a very funny book [the bible], and it was probably never meant to be taken seriously.

Proof again that the Bible and the morals of most people here in the USA aren't the same.

Again, please explain why you are railing against YOUR imaginary God so much? Makes no sense to me? You must believe a LOT more than you let on.
