I agree on waiting til you see your baby. When i found out i was pregnant i couldn't wait to start choosing names. I thought of Brooke, Jamie, Ashley and when she was born the first name into my head was Rebecca and that is my beautiful 3
yr old daughters name. She gets called Becca for short off other kids. A normal name my Mum said.

Check that a) the initials don't say anything unfortunate, b) you like the meaning of the name, c) it isn't a name that will cause teasing. i.e. you may like Jack Arsenal Martin, but the initials spell JAM and you may move to an area where they are all tottenham fans!
It is also worth checking that you like the abbreviation - you may love Richard, but loath Dick! and that it is easy to spell. My son is Alan, which we thought was nice and simple to spell, with a lovely meaning and hard to shorten. He gets called Big Al, and has had it spelt Allan, Allen, Allun, Alen, Alun...(By the way, it means Harmony, or Cheerful one. The feminine, Allana, means beloved.)

The best names for girls are probably one to do with jewellry like crstyl or Sapphire because they sound original and cute. I had this friend called ruby and everyone complements on her name.
Boys names are easier to pick as something simple like Jack or Lewis is better in my opinion than the more complex names like Jonathan and Chevvalstien.
But really if your having a baby just name them something that would match their character.

I would call my child (girl) April. For a boy, I would choose either Kevin or Douglas.
