I have heard that somewhere in the bible it promotes punish one's wife with a stick, or something to that extent. Can anyone tell me if it is really in there and WHERE it is in the Bible so I can look it up for myself?

Nowhere in scripture do we find God sanctioning any form of spousal abuse. In Colossians 3:18-19, men are instructed to pattern their love for their wives after Jesus' love for His church. This is described as a sacrificial kind of love; the kind of love that seeks the very best for the one who is loved.

1 Corinthians 13 teaches what genuine love is all about and has much to say about what love is not. According to this passage, love is not self-seeking, is not easily stirred up, and does not behave hatefully. Clearly, abuse is not a demonstration of genuine love!

You're thinking of child abuse, not spousal abuse.

Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.

Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.

Proverbs, 23:13-14

Wives just need to submit to their husbands in all things.

nowhere in the bible does it say this. Jesus commands that husbands love their wives as Christ loves the church. I don' t recall him ever beating the church with a stick.

The Old Testament is only a history book. Everything changed when Jesus Christ came to earth and was crucified. The two commandments in the New Testament are how we should live our lives today.

No. It is not there. God's word commands treatment that is just the opposite.
