my dog has got bumps all over him. they are really strange because they come up somewhere on his body then say an hour later they have gone from that area but more in other areas. you can see where the bumps are as his fur sticks up where the skin is raised. he seems to be eating and drinking ok but seems a bit down. they obviously irritate him as he is scratching and licking a bit. i cant see any fleas or flea dirt or eggs. i am just so confused as the bumps (which are about pea sized) seem to flare up then disappear from one area but more will sprout in another area at the same time. this happens fairly rapidly. soorry this is long but just cant explain it. hope anyone can help.

thanks all. he is all clear now. no lumps. apparently just bitten by insect while out walking which caused a very mild reaction. i knew it wasnt ticks as i have seen them before and know how to safetly remove them. as i have grown up with dogs in my family, i am quite experienced with them. i had just never seen this reaction before. some of these comments i received , i found rather patronising. i knew my dog wasn't seriously unwell and had already booked an appointment with vet anyway. i was just asking to see if anyone had any thoughts on what it could be. i don't appreciate comments such as 'duh, vets.' that quite upset me as i feel some of you thought i don't care much for my dog. i care tons about my dog. he is like part of the family. i even call him my son. thanks again to the helpful comments.

Oh poor Spot! I t seems like your best friend has an allergy and it's annoying him, that's why he's scratching and licking the areas that are inflamed. Is it possible that you can take him to a vet & get it looked at, it would be worth the money so the poor boy can feel better and have some releif. Remember now that dogs can't communicate the way we can so we have to be very perceptive and sensitive to their needs. He loves you very much and would like you to help him. Please get him to a vet ASAP and maybe you can work out a payment plan.
Many vets are really willing to agree to a payment plan especially if they know how much you love your pet. Give it a try and your best freind will love you even more than you can imagine. Good Luck & give your dog a hug from me!

First you have a beautiful dog, Blue coated dogs are prone not only allergies but skin conditions. I woudl take him to another vet. If you got him from a breeder i woudl check with the breeder to see who they recommend. If it is allergies it coudl be something you are feeding him as well so you may want to look into changing his diet unless you have already done that. Dog will also chew on themselves when they itch which doens't help things at all, if that is happening you could try squrting hima with a spray called bitter apple or bitter orange and that may stop him from chewing and agitating it. I assume that you have checked him for mange and those kinds of parasites, its an odd place for mange to appear and he old enough that it shoudl be an issue. I godd vet will do a skin scraping to be sure that it isn't mange or fleas or another mite of some kind. Good luck wiht him he looks like sweetheart

Your dog is having an allergic reaction. You can give them a benedryll and call your vet. Most allergic reactions require antibiotics. If left untreated your dog may start to have an odor and loose hair. When an animal is not feeling well...they don't react as spunky as before. VET.VET. VET. Need I say more? Ask your vet for advise on good shampoo, too. I give my dog who has allergies a sprinkle of garlic and a teaspoon of olive oil w/her dinner every evening (2nd meal of the day for her) She has these reactions less frequently! It does not however, cure the problem...just helps promote an more oil production in her coat. Good luck.

Allergy....try putting him on a diet of ground hamburger ( cooked) and rice and see if it goes away. Then you can start adding different foods and treats to see if you can isolate what is giving him the rash. OR you could pay a pretty penny for an allergy test at the vets. OR it could be something that you're using in your house; a new flea powder on his bed, floor cleaner, air freashner.
OR he could have a SEVERE ALLERGY to fleas like my dog does, adn if he gets 1 little bite he breaks out in a terrible rash! Hope that helps!

An allergy maybe. But I'm positive your dog needs to see a vet.

Why aren't you at the vets? It won't cost that much. Look in the tel book and make an appontment.

He may have ticks, if so it sounds like there could be quite a few of them, you need to get him to the vet as he could become very anaemic quite quickly, I have only occasionally seen them on my dogs, myself and my husband both know how to remove them safely, but please don't attempt this yourself.

Contact the vet immediately. Only he could help your poor dog. God knows what's going on.. but it doesn't sound right to me.. Hurry till it's too late. Fingers crossed!
