I usually use a pair of chef's tongs, but I have a friend who has a silicon oven mit (made by starfritt) -- that can be used too.

I've always seen people do it with their hands. They just hold the lobster on the back and drop it in. I suppose you also could use a large pair of tongs--maybe like the ones that come with a barbeque set.
I wonder if it's true that you can sort of hear the lobster "scream" when it goes into the boiling water. *shiver*
But dang, they do taste great with butter, don't they?

the guy above me is right. put the lobster in the freezer for a good 15 min., it will not kill him, just relaxes him. BUT...when you take the lobster out, put him in the pot right away, so he won't "wake up".

I'm not sure I understand you , what do you mean handler?
What you have to do is be sure the claws have elastic on them , pick them up and place them in a large pot.

In short- YOU. Just be sure the lobster is very very cold and it will cease to move. You will not even realize it is still alive. Happy eating!
