For all those that say theres no such thing as a quiet parrot...apparently most of them have never owned one. You can find quiet parrots, theres just not many of them. Lovebirds I have owned several, and they can get loud and very high pitched. They may not have the scream of a Macaw, but it seems like it when you already have a Migraine. If you want a sweet loveable and quiet bird, get a Senegal, or a Meyer's Parrot. They are incredibly sweet, and are very loyal loveable birds. I have a Senegal, and allthough they don't necessarily have the flashy colors like some of the lovebirds, they are incredibly smart, and QUIET I can't say it enough! mine will whistle every now and then, or she rings like a telephone when I leave the room, but to give you an idea, my roommate didn't even know I BOUGHT MY SENEGAL until she had lived in my room for almost 2 WEEKS and its only cause I left my door open one time when I left for school. Mine probly chirps 3 or 4 times a day at most, but mainly just plays with her toys and keeps to herself, until its time for some snuggling. Meyer's are differnet looking but in the same family, and very quiet birds, they're more playful than communicative! Although they do love to mock sounds, they don't come equipped with some of the annoying calls that other birds have like Sun Conures..I know cause I have one of those also!!! Good luck!

I don't think there is any parrot with a low noise level. Also, they all have different personality and attitude. They are quite social. Also, they need lots of attention from their owners, or else they will get depress. Yes, bird has depression too.

Parrots are a social and communicative pet and will make a lot of noise, especially if they feel they are being left out of the group. If you want a quiet bird, look for something else.

I am proudly owned by 4 parrots. And I can tell you that yellow-naped amazon, goffin cockatoo, African Grey Timneh, Quaker parrots are all noisy. Mine do great at night I turn out their light in their room and they get quiet. But I don't know of too many parrots that are quiet. Maybe you should get a cat. As parrots require alot of attention and understanding. They are costly also. And really should only be owned by people with alot of patients.

A female cocktail is pretty quiet. (i own one) But tell you the truth having a quiet bird is basically non-exist ant
Finches have a low noise level if you have only two. Lovebirds are quiet if you have two. Most small female birds are quiet. Buggies are alright as long as you have two of them. The reason why most parrots are noisy is because they want attention. So it's best if you get a pair of female birds (males tend to be aggressive)

Don't get a Corella, Galah or Sulpur Crested Cockatoo. They are probably the loudest of the lot. A Princess parrot has a beautiful call or any of our Rosella's and are fairly quite.

I believe he should get you a stuffed parrot, at one time or another they all scream. I have a rescued macaw, and a pair of earplugs... good-luck
