I should have added that I have already used the various online translation services and could not get the answer, so I really do need someone who knows Hebrew to answer.

The word you are looking for is "zakif" (pronounced: za-kEEf), written זקיף, or with vowels זָקִיף.

Another possible word is "shomer" (sho-mEr, שומר, or with vowels שׁוֹמֵר), and it is more common in Modern Hebrew and in the manner of speaking of the Israeli army, although best translated as "guard".
