plaque forms every 24 hours, beyond that point it can become damaging. depends on what you eat, on wheather or not decay is promoted. this is why it is so important to floss because we can generally eat away most of the plaque on the top and side surfaces of our teeth. flossing gets between the teeth where it is impossible to clean even with a tooth brush. brushing between your teeth is like sticking a 2X4 in a crack in the sidewalk, flossing is the only way to get a total mouth clean. i would always sugest brushing as much as possible, but remember to massage your gums and use your TLC, is plaque can be removed by eating then you are just trying to get the hard to reach areas and intense agressive pressure is not necessary. good luck

If it's possible, brush right away, as long as it's convenient. My dentist said "as soon as you stop eating food, the food starts eating your teeth."
I didn't know that years ago but now that I have new plates,up and down it doesn't seem to make any difference.

My dentist advised brushing no later than 20 minutes after you eat anything, not just candy.

bacteria that form plaque start growing 5 minutes after you finish. brush after every meal, though, and it'll be fine.
