The short answer is that it is a cultural thing...as in "hot mama"...

The long answer is quite a bit deeper...

It basically means that he is thinking of you as a suitable mate. A potential mother for his children. Mature Mexican men almost always refer to their wives as "mama"....(actually so do most Italians).... This is a type of claim of suitability to you....not an outright proposal, but an indication that at least on some level he is thinking of you in that way.

spanish people call each other that. In the beginning I freaked out b/c I didnt know then, now I am used to it and even girls call girls mama. Its good and normal don't worry

In Spanish calling you mama is like "Damn baby" in English. It doesn't really mean a baby does it? It's just something for him to say that he is excited and thinks your hot. If it helps you Spanish women say "Ay papi" but don't mean their dads.

Well i have some mexican friends and i think they call people that it usualyl means sexy or something liek that its nothing offensive u should take that as a compliment!

That's how they talk...it's just an expression when they feel secure with a girl..kind of like how they feel with their real "Mama"...hahaha who am I kinding, girl I don't know but they've passed that word onto my culture...just say I ain't your damn mama, baby...I am your woman...LOL!!!

mama means mom but in this case it is just a nice name that means that he likes you

it is a mexican thing.. my bf mother calls her grand daughters moma there 5 and 6.. it is a term of affection
