Yes if he seems content more than likely he is happy but you should not be happy coz you have to get hime back in shape and active... depending on his breed and age give him the right and healthy food and excercise so you will be happy to have him for years to come :)

Some breeds are happy being fat and lazy while others would be happiest being healthy and active. But even if a fat and lazy dog is happy, he won't be in the long run because his health will catch up to him causing things like arthritis for example.

Your dog may be happy, because your treating him good. There are many health problems later in life that are going to cause lots of problems for your pet. Your dogs hips are going to be greatly affected by being overweight. If your dog weighs 10 pounds over ideal weight, it is like us weighing 50 pounds overweight. I work in a vet clinic and I see lots of pets come through the door that are
having problems because of weight. It is very sad.

You may think he's happy, but he's a dog! I doubt his criteria is the same as yours.

He's definitely not healthy so you won't have too many years to worry about him being happy.

I have a 9 year old Beagle and she is fat but seems to me to be a lot happier than most of the people I know so chill out and enjoy your fat dog while you can!

Happy? Yes, probably, as long as you treat him well. However, his lifespan will be probably be shortened by several years if he is overweight. For his health, maybe he should get a bit more exercise and go on a diet :)

Just remember, with an overweight dog, there is more to love, but less time to do so. He may be happy, maybe not,.
