Legos! Not the tiny ones, the big bricks called Duplo.

Crayola makes some fingerpaints and markers that only show on their special paper. No mess to clean up!

Get some dry beans from the supermarket. Different sizes and colors are good. Put them all in a big plastic tub with a lid. Add some plastic cups or sandbox toys and let her enjoy her indoor "sandbox." Caution: Some children have been known to put beans up their nose. If this happens, you need medical help to remove it. They usually only do it once!

Sidewalk chalk is wonderful, weather permitting. She does need to be supervised outdoors though.

A 3 year old is going to need *some* attention - these activites will occupy her for a while, but not like hours or anything. I found that if I played with the child for a while first, she would playy alone happily for quite a while. But if I just sat her down with the legos and left, she would come running to find me after about 2 minutes.

Good luck!

The simple answer is: you can't.

Children of that age have a very short attention span. Instead of trying to get her engrossed in one activity, try having a series of short activities that you can do with her. A little of this, a little of that and a little of the other thing seems to work best...

...and when in doubt get out the paints and crayons (children of that age like and need right brain stimulation and creative outlets)

it just depends on what kind of personality she has...like i go to walmart and buy the paint they have for like 3 dollars, and a paint brush, and let her go to town. she loves painting. so if she likes to color than give her all the crayons she can deal with......my daughter has the tv on all day while shes running around playing. she stop watch tv for a minute.....run and get some toys......stop watch tv...run again...its just whatever your cuz likes to do. i would try the paint thing. just get a big sheet or somehting to put down for the mess...if that doesnt work...try letting her be your little helper throughout the day. like if you doing dishes....ask her to go through all the rooms and make sure there are none left. or let her vacumm. that way she can be with you and have fun. i hope i helped.....good luck and happy holidays.

We had a team of those colored plastic eggs (empty) and gave her a basket. She'd close her eyes at the same time as I/my husband might disguise the eggs (I counted them in the past so we knew whilst she had got here upon all of them) around the residing house/room ... in the past each and every thing I hid them in very obtrusive places, however the greater she performed, the greater sturdy i might make it to locate them. and now and back she might disguise them for us ... and stick to us around saying "seem Mommy! You forgot this one!" it replaced into wonderful. I even have presently been taking part in "impediment direction" with my oldest (4 a million/2). I positioned filled animals, hula hoops, something super sufficient to hop over all in a row and tell her diverse guidelines (hop over this, then bounce over this, then do 2 leaping jacks, etc). you may alter it to greater healthful your youngster's actual/psychological potential. because mine is a splash older, she will stick to a collection of greater guidelines than she ought to whilst she replaced into 3. we've additionally performed "stick to the chief" the place she has to stroll in the back of me and do what I do (pass, hop, wave hands, etc). you additionally could make it as goofy as you elect, and it quite is a amazing thank you to get a number of that potential out. wish this facilitates! my daughter basically finished her 2-week spring destroy - we are in IL the place the climate isn't lots greater suitable so i thoroughly understand the way you're feeling ... with a bit of luck spring would be right here quickly!
