My favorite Festivus recipes:
Painful Pulses with Bitter Curry
(AKA Red Lentil and Coconut Soup)
2 TBS coconut oil (do not use refined as it is flavorless)
2 cloves garlic, minced or pressed
1 medium onion, chopped
½ tsp sea salt
½ tsp mild curry powder
1 tsp garam masala
¼ tsp chili powder (spice mix, not ground chilies)
1 tsp ground cumin
1/8 tsp ground cayenne
4 medium tomatoes, chopped (or 28 oz can chopped tomatoes)
1 cup red lentils, sorted
2 tsp lime juice
2 ½ cups vegetable stock (or water with veggie bullion cube)
1 can coconut milk (not cream of coconut)
cilantro for garnish (optional)
1. Heat the oil in a stockpot and sauté the onions and garlic along with
salt for a few minutes, stirring to prevent browning. Add the spices and
cook for 30 more seconds.
2. Stir in the tomatoes, red lentils, lime juice, stock (or water and
bullion) and coconut milk. Bring to a boil.
3. Reduce heat and simmer for about 25-30 minutes or until lentils are
tender and cooked through.
4. Season to taste and garnish with cilantro if desired
NOTE: This is just a base recipe. I’ve found this to be delicious with pretty much any vegetable. It also comes out pretty thick and served over rice makes a great meal.
Other vegetable suggestions: Fresh spinach (add tender greens during the last 10 minutes of cooking), kale, red peppers, diced potatoes, broccoli, squash, beets, carrots, you name it!
Drunken Havoc Balls
(AKA Bourbon Balls)
1 large box vanilla wafers, crushed
½ cup cocoa
1 cup chopped nuts
2 TBSP light Karo syrup
½ cup bourbon
1 ½ cups powdered sugar
Mix wafers with cocoa and nuts. Dissolve syrup with bourbon; blend all together. Chill. Form into small balls; roll in powdered sugar. Chill for 2 hours.
Yield: 2 ½ dozen balls
Split and Angry Cabbage Heads with Sin Fruits
(AKA Brussels Sprouts with Apples)
2 1/4 pounds fresh Brussels sprouts, halved
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 teaspoons salt, divided
1/4 cup butter or margarine, divided
1 medium onion, diced
1/4 cup apple juice
1 large Red Delicious apple, diced
1 garlic clove, minced
1 teaspoon sugar
1 (8-ounce) can sliced water chestnuts, drained
1/2 cup golden raisins
2 teaspoons grated lemon rind
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
1/8 teaspoon grated nutmeg
Bring brussels sprouts, lemon juice, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, and water to cover to a boil in a saucepan. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 5 to 10 minutes or until tender. Drain and keep warm.
Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat; add onion, and sauté 15 to 20 minutes or until caramel-colored. Add apple juice, and cook 2 minutes, stirring to loosen browned particles.
Add apple, garlic, and sugar; cook, stirring constantly, 5 to 6 minutes or until apple is tender. Add water chestnuts, next 4 ingredients, remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt, and remaining 2 tablespoons butter; cook, stirring constantly, 3 to 4 minutes. Gently toss in brussels sprouts.
Yield: 6 to 8 servings

Mmmmm! Theres alot! I'm in like Home Ec and we made recipes for the teachers. Theres this peppermint bark and you need...
⥠25-30 round peppermint candys
⥠8 barks of white chocolate (H-E-B for 1.99)
First in a bag crush the peppermints. Melt the white chocolate (make sure it doesn't get burned). Add together and mix. Then pour all together on a wax sheet of paper on a cookie sheet. Put it in the fridge for 30min-1hr30min. Once hard break into pieces.
Then there is chocolate balls...
⥠Chocolate chips
⥠Honey
⥠Pecans
⥠Vanilla Wafers
⥠Sprinkles
Melt 1 cup of chocolate chips (don't burn!). Add the honey before you melt, about 3/4 of it. While your melting it, get another person to crush the vanilla wafers until they become crumbs. Again while your are doing that get someone else to measure out 2 cups of peacans that are already crushed. When everything is crushed and measure add together and mix, it may get hard so use your hands. Once it looks completely mixed make it into 1 inch balls. Then have another person roll into decorative sprinkles (any color you want)! Then store in fridge for 1hr-1hr30min. If you don't have anyone to help you it would really take you 2hrs.
Go to allrecipes.com they have alot! Hope this helps! Happy Holidays!
