I've read some people post that Contraceptives of any kind are against Christianity...Is that true? What do you all think about this?

I am a Christian myself and I think it's a bunch of bologna that contraceptives are against Christianity.

These people are ill informed. It is against the Catholic belief system. If they consider it against Christianity, they are only referring to their beliefs and not Christianity all together. And yes, it is a bunch of bologna. "God" wants you to reproduce, but He also wants you to be able to feed your children.

If you are not a Christian, then this answer would be of no help to you.

For most Christians it boils down to the question of when life begins and when contraceptives work. I'm a Christian and I personally believe that 'life is in the blood". That's what God told Noah (twice). That's what Moses told the Jews on God's behalf (and God testifies to Moses through the prophets). Exactly when the blood forms is just a little sketchy, probably about three weeks or so. Contraceptives work much earlier, so I have no problems with Christians who use them.
The Catholic Church is the primary one that teaches against contraceptives. Thier background is an old teaching that sex is only for procreation. The scriptures don't actually say that but that is their interpretation of the command 'be fruitful and multiply'. That command was actually given to Noah and his children. I don't think the scriptures indicate that this specific command was intended to extend beyond those it was spoken to. However, if you believe it was, then standing in the way of procreation might be a sin, depending on how you interpreted it from there.

God commands Adam and Eve to be "fruitful and mulitply." He desires that we live in community and build families, but nowhere in the Bible does it talk about contraceptives. Abstinence, yes, but birth control-no. I doubt God cares if women take birth control pills or guys use condoms. If he really wants life to happen, then it will happen. Why do you think contraceptives are only 97% effective?
