Type the full number into google and see what comes up. I do that when i want to know and most of the time I find the answer.

You can do what's called a "reverse lookup."
Try it at this website: http://www.reversephonedirectory.com

You type in the number, and it gives you the name. It generally doesn't work for cell phones, but it does for landlines.

Easy..

Go to www.whitepages.com and click on "Reverse Phone Number" (or something like that..) It's a blue button located on the upper left-hand side of the page. Follow the prompts, enter the phone number, and it'll tell you who's calling.

Log on to whitepages.com and click on Reverse Phone and type in the number and it will give you a name and address

First thing to try is in google just type in the phone number with the dashes. 123-456-7890
Sometimes the info is old and don't work with moble

Go to reverse phone search online at http://www.daplus.us/PhoneSearch.aspx; or try calling/visiting the library and ask for criss cross help; the public library has criss cross directories where you can find a name if you have their phone number.

type the number in google with no - or spaces just the 10 digits & a lot of times it will show who it is listed to.
