When meditating it seems we get 'answers' or 'knowledge' from within. How do u suppose this is possible?

That is the nature of it...the paradox is, the more 'within' you go, the greater the reality....It is in this interior dimension that you are connected to all other inner worlds...You have unbelievable information banks at you fingertips, if you could ask the right question to access it. The simple act of wondering opens the doors...

I'll use a metaphor I just made up... it's not the best, but hey...

It's as though we're a body living in a particular house called the Universe.
Searching within, we discover there's nobody home... instead, we *inevitably* discover we are the home.
Answers and knowledge are the appearance of objects inside the space within.
Since God is everywhere at once, God is more like the air inside (and outside?) the home.
Whoever lives here... is who we all believe ourselves to be.

It's a very old house. It may be torn down later. Until then... it's just another house in the neighborhood.
(These are modern times... and we don't know the neighbors.)

So the house knows very well who lives there and what's inside, its walls have witnessed everything.

Hello... =)

From my perspective.....that of a Buddhist....

Some answers arise from "emptiness"...and not from my own consciousness.....

This is a little difficult to explain..

This is not to say that they are without cause, because all things are subject to cause and effect. Perhaps, however, the causes to such things are not always clear to us.

I have, in meditation, experienced several visions, the meanings of which are never clear to me. The visions are very clear, however. The only conclusion I can come up with is that some knowledge arises from emptiness directly, in much the same way as physical phenomena does.

I hope this was more helpful than confusing.

Namaste,

--Tom

Clutter and Attachments are our worst enemies. As you learn a new skill let's say in drawing, you become better at it. In meditation, you learn the rhythm of your body, the quick breaths you take when you are upset about something, your reaction to a death of a loved one, etc. The more you do it, the more you understand why, and the more those negative reactions fade away. You understand you, knowing you, you know "God". Awareness is the key and meditation is our tool to get there. When you know yourself, you love yourself and accept yourself leading you to accept life, others, dilemmas, death, and sickness.
To sum it up, you lose your attachements to the world, to the material, to expectations, to believeing things will stay or not stay, you accept life right now, and see life as the beauty of impermanence.

one of the theories behind this involves inter connectivity between all things. because of meditation, i believe this to be true. we hold within us the answers to all things. we need only ask and seek. meditation is the foundation we lay to seek these answers. through our inner journeys we can discover all things possible, through our hearts we choose the questions we ask.if you learned to meditate you would find your own answers. and yoiu would understand better. your wishes and desires will tell you what to do.

Meditative contemplation is a process involving calming the mind of all distractions and removing all sources of negative thought.

What remains is you. When in this state, we are able to focus our mind to purposefully contemplate those issues which are important to our development as humans, issues are contemplated upon one at a time and consequently we are able to examine those things in a more focused and determined and honest fashion, in doing so we examine all aspects of the issue seeing it in its true nature.

With this in mind it is truth we seek. Examination of a thing's nature reveals itself, it is nothing more than honest evaluation, no insight is required because in that state our honesty in the examination reveals the good and bad of a thing, revealing it for us with no distortion.

We then see it for its true nature and can then form methods to combat its influence on us for our own benefit. For this is the reason for contemplation, to find those things which cause suffering for us, examine their true nature and rid ourselves of their influence finally ridding ourselves of the causes of our suffering.

It is written to meditate on whatsoever is lovely, true, of good report, honest, edifying, etc... and the God of peace will keep your hearts in Christ Jesus.

Meditate on Gods Word. Truth is instilled in the ones mind and spirit.

The knowledge or answers do not come from within, they come from without. "Thought Waves." Our answers come from the Universe. They come from that "God Consciousness."

Truth is clouded by work, traffic, noise, conversation, tv, magazines, lustful thoughts, stress, panic, little kids screaming and throwing up, pooping and taking out the garbage. How could truth show up in the middle of all that? You have to remove all that mind noise and its surprising what truth shows up.

probably because you're more calm and you can rationally think things out. and because maybe it's already inside and there is too much outside noise for you to hear yourself and meditation helps you to quiet down
