Jr is usually associated with a father/son, not with girls although technically it's the same....

No. The mother may not have been born with the name she has when she's pregnant. She may be married, or be getting married. The child may also get married one day, and her name would change. You can't go from being "Jane Doe, JR" to "Jane Smith, JR" The suffix is legally part of the name.

Of course, in today's world, anything goes. Also, it is up to the parents whether they want the child to be "JR" or "II" (the second). This is decided at birth. (Giving the child one suffix or the other does nothing to insure they will name their child in suit.)

I have heard of girls with the suffix of Jr after their names. I think it is pretty cool to honor the mother, normally one only associates that with the father/son names. I believe the performer Della Reece has a daughter that is a Junior.

My sister was named after my mother and I believe the best way to address them is by Donna II. I'm not really sure! I think Jr. and Sr. applies more to men/boys.
