I agree with extrasweet..... I think it is both. Of course it would be great to say that every one that reads the Bible reads it with their heart which would mean with an open heart and mind, believing by faith that every word is true. Expecting to receive an awesome revelation from God as if He is speaking those words to you audibly at that very moment. But, even as a born again Christian sometimes I read it with my heart and sometimes - depending on how I feel - I may just read it. Not because I am made to, but sometimes I just read it because I may be down and need God's word to encourage me or sometimes I may be busy and I just read it because I know that it is beneficial for me and that the right thing to do is to spend some time with God and reading the Bible each day. Nevertheless, whether people read it with their heart or just to read it - whether it is a little or alot the most important thing is to get an understanding! Even if it is just one verse a day - just make sure you understand what you are reading and what God is saying to you with that one verse.
Best,
Andrea G

On the contrary... it's more important to Study the Bible. When you just read the Bible, you miss the chance to experience God speaking to you through his words. Anyone can read the Bible and most people do.
When you truly study the Bible you absorb it's contents into your heart and mind thereby allowing God's Holy Spirit to change your character. Before studying the Bible is so very very important to pray and ask God's Holy Spirit to guide and direct your mind to understand what you're about to read. Then ask Him to help strengthen you to live in accordance with the message you receive from The Word and help that it will continue to give you power to overcome and share what you've learned when you can with others.

Unfortunately, in my opionion not enough people regularly read their Bibles. I read two pages each day and can finish the entire Bible in 11 months - I've done this about 15 times and each time I find important new relevant things. At first I just read it, then I started reading it with my heart. Try asking God to help you understand and apply it to your life. THat's what I do and it really is an important daily experience that perpares me for the day.

If you do the research, you'll find that the bible has been rewritten over and over again with many things edited and added. The bible, and this might ruffle some feathers, is nothing but mythology!
Try reading "Misquoting Jesus" by Bert Ehrman...that shoud open up your eyes!

There are many problems with the bible, and though I am agnostic, I have studied passages in school.
Just a few of the problems include:
1. these passages were all written AFTER Jesus' death
2. there are many passages that were rejected from the bible
3. a lot of the stories mimic earlier tales from the Egyptians, etc.
4. the bible can be interpreted in many ways, and passages can be taken out of context
5. I fear a book which has been used to justify some of the most horrible acts in human history.

I do. I never did before I met my friend, who is a Jehovah's Witness. I personally, was baptized Lutheran and still remain so. My friend is kind enough to come to my home every week to conduct a Bible study with my daughter and I. I've learned so much from her, sadly more than I ever learned in Church.

Some people read and study their bibles while others read it like they would a newspaper and yet there are others that don't bother to read it at all.

I've read the Bible more than a dozen times from cover to cover. I also use it in my daily study. Great book!

I did read the bible, but I don't believe in God. How I read the bible? It's all just a weird book to me.
It's like a fairytale.
