The only truth is that life can be heaven or hell, it is all cause and effect, positives and negatives, it's up to us to choose wether we want to live in hell or heaven in the here and now. Nobody knows what will happen in the afterlife, we can only do good here regardless of a religious belief system.

Only those who have comfessed their sins and accepted Jesus as their personal Saviour will spend eternity in the kingdom of heaven. Those who do not accept Jesus as their Saviour will spend eternity in hell. There is no middle ground, there is no alternative, and there is no changing your mind once you get there.

If a baby is baptized, it is believed that it will not be denied heaven, but in order to "believe" you have to be conscious. So it can be assumed that is some cases a non-believer can go to heaven. However, I seriously doubt that a true non-believer is concerned with the idea of heaven or hell.
As for the second part of the question, it seems to me that there is a confusion between "religion" and church, because the belief is an issue between the person and God, not between the person and the society (including the church). So, the chances of a person, who does not follow organized religion, but follows what was prescribed, are greater than those of a follower only by habit.

Hello =)

From a Buddhist perspective....

Yes...there can be an "afterlife" in a "heavenly place" for those who have no such belief, or any belief for that matter.

And this is only the result of those things which you have mentioned.... The laws of cause and effect, and the actions of one in this, and past lifetimes.....

The Buddha once said.....

"Some are reborn in human form. Good people go to heaven. Bad people go to hell. Only those who know the truth of cause and effect will reach Nirvana"

So, in this, we see an organized religion providing a path to heaven for non-believers......

Namaste,

Sure, why not. Even those who don't follow any particular religion can do good things while they're alive. There are examples of good people throughout history who made a positive impact on and for humanity and were from different religions.

What is a non-believer anyway? Someone who doesn't believe in what you believe in? Just because people disagree as to which is the true religion, they can still do good for the world.

Heaven and God are defined differently for different people and so is death and what happens after death.

Do good while you're on the planet. The rest will take care of itself.

The scriptures don't speak directly to this exact point - that is the person who never heard what God wanted them to do. However, that hasn't stopped people from having very strong opinions about. My feeling is that if you trust God you believe that He knows what the right thing to do is, so you don't have to try and speak for Him when He didn't tell you to do that.
The real point here is not some abstract, theoretical person, but you. If you want to KNOW the truth you have to first be willing to accept it - even if you don't like it. If you actively and openly seek God, then He will find you. You just have to seek and be open to what He has to say. Most people can't accept God because He tells them things they don't want to hear. Now you know - for better or worse.

Technically, in case you have been provided the present of existence via God, and you reject it, you're no longer likely to Heaven no depend how good you're. Being good potential no longer something without accepting God's present of existence. somebody devoutly following the "the suitable option faith" does not be a assassin or rapist. you may sin, yet forgiveness in basic terms comprises those relatively sorry for what they have performed, and made tries to "repent," or exchange the process their lives from undesirable to goo. Strictly conversing, neither the saintly atheist, nor the Christian assassin will pass to Heaven.

Chances are highest that there is no afterlife...I'm certainly not going to waste this life banking on some mythical 'heaven'...

heaven or hell is what we make of our lives here on this earth...why waste a single moment?

There is a scripture in the Bible that states many Christians will not make it to heaven, and many non-Christians will make it to heaven. So, according to that, yes. I myself am not a Christian, or follow the Bible. I am a very good person with a kind heart. Do I think "God" would send me to hell for all of eternity (if it exists)? No I don't.

Not heaven, but to be sure, there will be an afterlife. Though many in this forum and others similar to it, would attempt to think and explain it away, there will be an afterlife.
