If you mean sunglasses, there might be several reasons:

1) Even if they can't see, their eyes are still vulnerable (and maybe moreso) to dryness from wind or injury or irritation from debris in the air.

2) Some people who are blind may not be able to see forms or colors, but may still be sensitive to light

3) Some people's eyes are disfigured and they'd rather not have others look at them.

You got a couple of good answers and here's another. If by "glasses" you mean sunglasses, it's because over time, the muscles of the eye deteriorate giving the eyes an odd appearance. If born blind, the eyes may have even sunken. There may be cataracts that give the eyes a milky, white look. Glasses provide some protection from foreign objects. Wearing dark glasses prevents a lot of unnecessary stares and rude comments or questions from the ignorant sighted.

Well, 9 out of 10 people aren't 100% blind. They still have a little bit of vision. So I guess the glasses help them see a little bit.

If you mean sunglasses:

Sometimes when a person is blind their eyes become hazed over or change colors due to the retina being detached and the eyes not being used. Some blind people choose to wear sunglasses so that the hazed eyes are not noticable to others. It helps them to feel more at ease.

To protect the eyes fron injury (they can't see objects coming at their eyes) and for personal appearance. Even though they cannot see they do have a sense of style and wish to look good. Black glasses look much better than wandering eyes when you are having a conversation with someone.

"Blind" is defined as having a certain degree of sight loss. It does not always mean one cannot see anything. Therefore a "blind" persons sight may be partially correctable.

Do you mean sunglasses?

I think it's to prevent their eyes from freaking everyone else out (because they look like they're staring), and to identify them as blind.

They have a little sight. They want that sharpened. They need the light. But they need protection from the sun in their eyes.
