Well, if you insist on being the stereotypical Frenchman, then I would have to insist on being the stereotypical caveperson.

Basics-Fire, wood, smoke, Water-If I was smart enough, I guess I would build myself a smoker out of some trash my fellow americans left behind at a campsite. I think the oil barrel (trash can) would be a good choice. And perhaps for some extra flavor, I might gather some Bay leaves and throw them in there too. If I was feeling really adventurous, I would widdle down some cedar or oak or pine or applewood-depending on where I was in america and soak them in some spring or creek water and place them on the coal. Whoops, I forgot to puncture holes in my barrel. (so now I'm doing that and I'm burning my hand!).

Hunting-I would first look for roadkill as that would require the least amount of effort. If that didn't work,I would leave some food out for the neighboring wildlife to come for, and throw rocks at them until they were dead. I would then skin them and break them down with my nice rock and place them on a bed of leaves and rocks in my smoker, spinning the barrel over the hot coals to make sure I get even cooking. I might actually find some pine nuts and some edible dandelion in the wilderness and make myself a salad. And for acid-berries seem like a nice choice, but they may be hard to find, so I may have to resort to water and pine needles and boil that for a while, perhaps smash it, so it can bloom for a little bit.

Manually, what sort of question is that? Language Barrier? Or are you just that stereotypical insulting frenchman?

Nothing. Your hands don't get hot enough to cook, regardless of your nationality. OK, a bit of a smart-assed answer, but come on, give us something to go on here. Cook for what? A dinner party, potluck, to impress a girl (or guy)? What do you mean exactly when you say "manually"? With just a stove and some sauce pans? Not using a food processor? Only cutting or mashing? I'm serious. We need more info.

Hey Frog..........we've had enough BS from France lately........in fact, Congress is addressing a bill that WOULD SEVER ALL RELATIONS WITH FRANCE!!!! So, what do ya think of that??? And the reference that most Americans do not have the skill to cook is like saying that the French don't know how to bathe or know what soap is.......(hmmmmmmmm gee, and I'm just being honest)

Most anything.
Meat cookery - roasting, grilling and barbequeing is my main focus.

My Italian coworkers claim that the French learned to cook from the Italians. Is that true?
