The answer to your question is: it depends where you come from. For instance, German comes quite natural to some (northern or western) European countries' citizens, unlike to those from e.g. southern parts of the continent.
But in general, German is definitely not a fun language, in fact there's nothing fun about it... :) (especially to the Americans)..

But then it has been forty years since I learned German. And, yes
it is fun. Even more-so when you learn Japanese also and compare the languages and cultures.
Seperating culture and language is not really realistic or possible because the language evolves regionally and culturally. The smart study now would probably be Chinese for obvious developing reasons.
