Sorry I don't know of any that use powdered sugar, but this is my favourite brownie recipe: INGREDIENTS: 8- 1 ounce squares of unsweetened chocolate 1 cup butter 5 eggs 3 cups sugar 1 tablespoon vanilla 1-1/2 cups flour 1 teaspoon salt 2-1/2 cups chopped pecans or walnuts, toasted PREPARATION: Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease a 9 x 13 pan. Melt chocolate and butter in a saucepan over low heat; set aside. In a mixer, beat eggs, sugar and vanilla at high speed for 10 minutes. Blend in chocolate mixture, flour and salt until just mixed. Stir in the nuts. Pour into prepared pan. Bake for 35-40 minutes. (Don't overbake.) Cool and frost if desired, but that is not necessary.

Ah another reason the USA should have converted to the metric-system in 1976 as we were scheduled !!

For frosting I will assume you are using confectioner's sugar (powdered) 1 pound = 3.75 - 4 cups. For granulated sugar, use 2.25 cups - 1 pound.

Those who have used the 16oz volume equivalence to a pound are WRONG !!

Enjoy your frosting... and every person who EATS... should buy their favorite cook a nice digital kitchen scale for Christmas !! They come in $50-100 price range and are essential for good baking !!

1 lb of sugar is about 2 cups (assuming you're using white, granulated sugar)

There seems to be some discrepancy amongst answers so I checked the Domino Sugar site to check my answer. 1 lb is about 2 cups of granulated, 3 3/4 cups confectioners (frostings usually use granulated, icings use confectioners).

I would just start out with 2 cups and taste. if it isnt right...add it in as needed. Frosting recipes do not need to be exact and there is a lot of wee way for changing things here and there.
