Do you ask because you're not sure why anyone would put *jelly* in a sandwich?
In the US jelly is the equvelent of UK Jam

1) Get out peanut butter, jelly ( I like grape, but any others work ), and 2 slices of bread. Also, get a plate and a butter knife.
2) Open the lids to the peanut butter and jelly. Spread the PB on one of the slices. Spread jelly on the other.
3) Put the slices together. Enjoy by placing the sandwich in your mouth and biting down.

step 2: put peanut butter on one piece
step 3: put jelly on the other
step 4: put the 2 pieces of bread together so that the jelly an peanut butter are in the middle
step 5: eat and enjoy

Peanut butter and jelly is a sandwich -- 2 pieces of bread required -- preferably fresh.
If I'm not going to eat it immediately, I would spread peanut butter on both slices of bread.
One slice would have a thinner layer of peanut butter. On this slice, I would add the jelly or jam. This helps keep the jelly/jam from losing its moisture to the bread.
A glass of milk to accompany it -- Great !!
