My high school counselor is worthless. She won't tell us seniors anything, so we have to figure it out ourselves, I guess. Does anybody know of some VERY good scholarships that I can get information on? Any advice about applying for, searching for, and everything else would be great. Thank you. Also, you can email me if you have more stuff at junkboat07@yahoo.com. Put "Scholarships" or something like that in the subject line. Thank you again!!!

Thanks about that. I already have a fastweb.com account, though.

+ I have found the most comprehensive scholarships are given out through the US military. The pay backs are in service not cash. They basically pay the whole thing. Try the reserve programs.

the best advice I can give you is to decide what you're good at, and maybe want to study in school and find the school that is looking for students like you. Also figure in what you have to offer in the way of sports, music, etc. and be sure and play those up. And I believe -- having put two kids through college -- that private schools are the way to go.. ignore the asking price of tuition, etc. because it is just that, an asking price. Private schools have way more money to give out in the way of grants and scholarships. At a state school, you are one in hundreds --- all looking for for the same scholarship dollars. I had one child who went five years to an Ivy League school for the price of the local university in our town.. all because he could sing!! He wasn't an athlete, and didn't have the highest GPA in his class. The asking price on the tuition was 45,000 a year. Our contribution ended up being 8,000 a year at the highest. So concentrate on those skills!! And don't depend on your counselor to find your money for you; that's your job!! I say this nicely, but you are the one who will benefit from the education.. so go out and find yourself the best deal you can get!! good luck!!

Check out fastweb.org for great scholarship you're eligible for. Check the website of the college you're applying to, or the one you've gotten accepted to. They usually have some info on scholarships offered by the school.
