WARNING, this is GROSS !
I just noticed it 10 minutes ago.....it was coming out her butt. It wasn't all that big...looked more like a maget so, I wiped it away and killed it (with a tissue of course). She is a very clean cat and she did have a few fleas on herself so I would say it is from fleas. Her diet is the same food and she is strictly a indoor cat....because she is a "flame point and has light eyes" she can not be in the sun...but anyways, the over the counter de-wormer should work maybe ???? Everyone has given some ggod advice thus far but needed to add a bit more info...oh yeah, one more thing...she recently had an issue with a "broken heart" after we lost her brother" we got her a new kitty to have as company....should I treat that cat as well ?????

Hello again I commented on your last question,This is just a case of tape worm and yes it is disgusting but it can easily be fixed.Ok all you need to do is contact a local vets office and tell them that you need medicines for your cats you will have to treat all of them at the same time.Tell them your cats have tapeworms and you need to get medicine for them, and tell them that you also need flea medicine for all of them because that is how they start.Tapeworms are caused by fleas, they are simply baby fleas, kind of like baby flies are maggots.I would suggest not using medicine out of the store and its about a fifty/fifty chance of working,to where if you get the medicine from the vet usually has a 90 % chance of working first time.you should not have to take the cats to the vet because I do it all the time, just call and tell them you need tapeworm medicine for all your cats and you need flea medicine as well. Also try to keep the litter clean at least everyday after they take the medicine clean it everyday, use a bleach cleaner works best.

Yes,treat both cats, but you need to take them to the vet for a shot that will get rid of the worms. An over the counter de-wormer will not work. Get some advantage,it will keep the fleas off of them.

Well your cat does have tapeworms and I would treat all cats at the same time. You will also have to treat your house, yard, and cats for the fleas. The tapeworms are a parasite (not baby fleas) that are from fleas (the fleas are a secondary host to the tapeworm) and your cats (or dogs) get them when they clean themselves and ingest the fleas. Most over the counter wormer doesnt treat tapeworms so you will need to talk to your vet about the proper treatment. Good luck and hope you have a Happy holiday season.

My cat had worms a few months ago, even though she is a completely indoor cat. I think she got fleas from our dog and that's why she got worms. I just called my vet and described what the worms looked like and he let me drop in and pick up some medicine. It was pretty inexpensive....I think under ten dollars. That way I didn't have to find the time to take her in for an appointment.

Your cat has worms. Take a stool sample to the vet and they can give her a shot to take care of it. You will also want to spray for fleas and clean the box out before she uses it again. Both can harbor the eggs that result in the worms.
Good Luck!

You can get the same medication your vet uses if you visit your local feed store. Simply tell them the weight of your cat and it should cost less than $10.
If money is no object, simply go to your local vet.
Good Luck to you.

Yes, treat both. With OTC, go to the vet, or use chewing tobacco.
