Ok, i've had my first tattoo for over two years now, that one went fine, but i went last week and got another one, and passed out, like lost all conscienceness. Has this happened to anyone else?

Not personally, but it is not uncommon especially if your blood sugar was low at the time. They usually give you chocolate or juice if you start to feel dizzy. It's caused from your body's response to the pain - a release of endorphins, which are the body's natural painkillers. To make a long, scientific story short, it can cause lightheadedness, dizzyness, nausea, and a loss of consciousness. You know, when pain gets so sever, people pass out - this is TOTALLY normal! Don't worry, and you're not a weak person for doing it either. In fact, your body is healthy and reacting in a normal way to pain! Good luck with your body art! I LOVE mine!

r p got it right... for your first tattoo you may have prepared yourself better mentally and physicall with food and relaxation techniques that you might not have done for the second. Its not uncommon for people to experience light headedness, nausiea, or passing out like you did. It is important to know the signs of this when its coming on so you can ask your artist for a break, they will not think any less of you for it. For the next time, make sure you eat well before having the work done and take a few friends with you to keep you relaxed.

I have 2 tattoos myself, when I got my first one I passed out, the artist said it was because it's such an adrenaline rush and all the blood just rushes. He said it happens all the time. It didn't help that I had the anticipation build up of 6 months. It took me that long to save up for it.

Nah, Im really really REALLY scared of needles, in fact I had a blood test today and cried like a baby. But I was fine for my tattoo. I have a friend though who is working on a sleeve and everytime she gets a bit more added she passes right out.

I almost passed out when I got my first tattoo. I think it has to do with being nervous. It probably happens quite often.

Nope. But I know that it can happen. That's why you need to pay attention and tell the artist if you start feeling sick or light headed. That way, they can give you a break, get you a glass of water or juice. With all that adrenaline rushing through your body, your body is taking quite a beating and you need to make sure that you don't push yourself too far.

I have two and never passed out. I am sure it is possible and not a big deal. Dont worry...unless it took you a while to wake up then i would check with a doctor.
