Why are so many Christians saving money for their kids colleges? Buying Homes and Property? Saving money in CD's so they can Retire?

I don't think I would be worrying about those things if I honestly thought my "God" and/or "Savior" was going to return to earth in my lifetime.

Now I'm getting a bunch of "We don't know" answers... but in previous questions (some from a few days ago), it was answers saying that most people believed it would happen in their lifetime. This is why I ask this.

And, yes, actually, Jesus does tell you to give away your possessions. And even if someone were to sue you for your coat, you should give that person your cloak as well. I don't see these types of things happening though......

And, in case you didn't notice in the Bible, Jesus did not have his own home... he went home to his Mothers home.

My Path would be labelled Pagan. But I honestly don't see what a label has to do with Anything that concerns Life in general - other than to give other people an idea where you stand in General.

I'm probably one of the few Pagans you will ever meet that is actually a Monotheist. *wink* Figure that one out.

hillbilly - first you say I'm not a graduate theologian, which I'm not, never claimed to be - but then you insinuate I need the Holy Spirit... which is it? a college education or the Holy Spirit?

No one knows. Could be tomorrow. Could be 1000 years from now. In the mean time, I have a life to lead.

"No one knows the hour, but the Father...not even the Son..." Jesus Christ.

We do not know and the Bible tells us to be ready. This creates a problem. How can we get ready, and still survive in tis world?? Can't do both.

Give to Ceasar that which is Ceasar's and give to God that which is God's.

Money is not going to heaven, wealth and property either.

It is a Spiritual preparation. We must prepare our selves spirtually. We must live in the world, but NOT be of it. We must survive in it, but not allow it to rule us.

In teh end, people will need to disinguish between wants and needs, spiritual and material.

St. Paul writes that we are two part, physical and spiritual.

A healthy body cannot heal a sick spirit, but a strong spirit can make strong the most fragiles of bodies.

the Raptor/Tribulations: It is a test of humanity. For the born again, Jesus is coming down one time, no early pick-ups.

How will the week be led back to the father if all shepards are gone???????????

It is a test of faith and trust in God. The suffering of Earth is nothing to that of Hell.

So continue to live in the world, just not of it. Do right by all, and what you have excess of share with those that have nothing. The war for the souls of humanity is spiritual not phyical, not material.

I'm afraid you don't have quite the understanding of Scripture that you think you do. You certainly are not a graduate theologian, or if you are, you have wasted your money. Pray to God to give you wisdom to understand, and He will do it. Then you will have a better 'grasp' of the meanings you are looking for. Bless you.

It seems as if it is drawing nearer. All the prophecies are coming true! We just keep spending and saving money and doing regular things because we don't know exactly when it is coming. I would hate to stop doing things and it doesn't happen for another year or two!

He says He will come like a thief in the night, we have no way of knowing when but we should always be prepared for His return. We still need to live our lives and our time here as He has planned. We are to take care of our family. As Christians we do not "Worry" about our future because we live daily for Him, He is our future. He doesn't tell us not to live, but to live for Him.

A person can't stop living!!! The fact is we can't know when Jesus is returning. We can only sense that the time is near as we look at the world around us. We can only prepare ourselves and continue living for today as tomorrow has it's own problems.

We are told that we will not know when He is coming. Like a thief in the night. Totally obscured and unexpected. We just wait and live while we are waiting.

And, we don't want to fall under the spell as JW's have. Sold everything, gave away the rest. And, oops, he was wrong. He meant 20 years later. Oops, he was wrong again.......

What Christians are doing is exactly what God said to do. We are going to be raptured up, but we are coming back to the earth with Him. We will reign and rule with Him for 1000 years. We are to stay the course until He comes and shouts "come up here."

The Bible is very specific - only God knows the hour or the day - live as if Jesus were coming today (live a Christ-centered life) but plan as if He's not coming until you have left this Earth.
