Maybe get her some of the accessories and a note telling her that when they're available, Santa will let mom know so she can get one. Just tell her that so many little girls wanted them that he couldn't keep up with the demand, but once Christmas is over, he'll be able to make more and she can get a very special one, made special for her. Just a suggestion. But if you're serious about getting her one, get some accessories so she knows it's coming and she'll get to use those accessories soon.

Wrap up an "IOU" gift for that special doll and make it from a family member. This way, Santa was aware that Grandma or Aunt Edna were planning on giving this gift, so he gave her something else.
Remember 1/2 of the Christmas excitment is the anticipation and the other 1/2 is the actual momentary enjoyment of the unwrapping. Children actually feel a little "depressed" after all the excitement has died down. This method will not only allow your wonderful daughter to enjoy just a little longer the joy of anticipating something wonderful, but will give her a chance to also enjoy her other gifts without having them be overshadowed.
We had this happen when my oldest was younger and was such a positive experience that we have continued the tradition with hard to get gifts. It takes the stress off the parents too!

Tell her the baby hasn't been born yet. Santa's elves are on back-log, or they needed to create a very special version of the doll for her. In the meantime, "prepare" for the baby by getting a bassinet and other accessories as gifts. In real life we cannot predict when an infant will arrive, so simply extend this unpredictable element into fantasy.
Either that or go on E-bay.
Good luck and Merry Christmas

Tell her that Santa had several requests for that particular doll and that his elves had trouble making enough to give out on christmas morning. But after the holiday season santa will reopen his workshop and will make a special delivery by valentines day just for her.
Even try to write up a little letter from santa thanking her for being so patient. It can also be signed by his reindeer by adding a little mud smear on the letter.

If you truly want to get this doll. I just checked on Ebay and they are available NOW. They are costing about $50 and auctions are ending constantly today. The "Buy It Now" price is around $70. You can pay extra for the overnight shipping. It will cost you a little more...but the look on that child's face will more than make up for the cost. By the way, good for you...for wanting to make a difference to this child. They are not this age for long...and their belief in Santa is such a magical time. (hugs) Merry Christmas.

Both my 5 y.o. son and 3 y.o. have asked Santa for something that they aren't going to get
so, I've been telling my kids (over and over) this and it seems to have sunk in...
Santa is WAY smarter than we are, and that sometimes he doesn't always bring what we ask for because he knows of a EVEN BETTER idea. Santa wants us to be happy, and sometimes he thinks the toy we've asked for isn't going to make them as happy a different toy (for whatever reason). He takes what we ask for into consideration, but then he brings what HE thinks is the best gift.
I like it because it sets them up in advance to sort of not expect their gift. You can still get her the doll after
Whether you use that or a "Santa's backlogged" story, You must prepare her BEFORE christmas morning so she doesn't come downstairs expecting it and is let down when emotions are high.
Good Luck!

You could try ordering it on line direct from the manufacturer or try E-Bay too. I saw a bunch of them at Toys R Us a couple of months ago. I know it is hard, I was in this situation once with my daughter-I got her other things because I couldn't find what she wanted she was a little disappointed but, she was happy with the other things she received. I found the item a couple of months later,I purchased it then, then I pretended that Santa had a special delivery for her and said that Santa was so busy, but he wanted me to give this to you and to let you know he would never forget about her. She really loved that. I really didn't like being dishonest, but I didn't want to disappoint my daughter more.

Let her know that there are other children who asked for it and that Santa's elves may of not made enough for everyone. So just in case he doesnt get to get her one for Christmas, let her know that he will give it to her after Christmas once the elves have enough time to make more. Thats what I told my daughter cause I was unable to find a doll house that she wanted. So I will just have to buy it as soon I can and wrap it up in Christmas paper to let her know that Santa didnt forget about her.

Most likely they will come in stock right after the new year. I suggest buying a gift card and packaging it nicely for the price of the baby. Than "Santa" should write a letter and explain that the "elves" didn't have enough time to finish them or they ran out of the parts so she is supposed to buy one from the store instead.
