I've seen in translated as
God is Great.
God is Greater.
and God is the Greatest.
Which is the most accurate?
A book I'm currently reading about Islam always translates it as "God is Greater" and I'm wondering, "Greater than what?" (obviously everything, but you know you what I mean).

The verbal translation will not give the meaning, so I have to give you the overall:
God is the Greatest (of all).
Akber = bigger (exact meaning).
"Bigger" is used instead of the word great in Arabic, which is "adheem", but it means greater instead of bigger.

I don't speak Arabic, but I read that "kabir" means great and "akbar" means "greater" or "greatest", the consonants of the word are always K-B-R and the vocals are exchanged to form the comparative and superlative, which are both the same form in Arabic, I mean you have to decide from the context if it is comparative or superlative, and here I think only the superlative makes sense.

No, that cannot be true, because your Allah never had a Son called Jesus. So what you are saying is "Allah is greater". Greater than God. Satan said " I will be like the most high", Iasiah 14.

literally translates into:
God is the Greatest of All
this is an invocation...
it calls on the Greatness of the Creator in order to receive help and guidance in times where support and strengh is needed.
People will say this when they go to war, to instill courage into their hearts.
People will say it when theyre so overcome with grief they have nothing better to say and if they do they'd rather remember God.
Peopel will say it when theyre in the middle of a catastrophe and they need Him to help them out.
