The Bible says that our bodies are the temple of God. Destroying the temple of God is blasphemy. It's not just drugs either so don't start yelling about fat Christians.. They are as disobedient as a drug user... Jim

Dear xxx,
We know what God approves and disapproves of by the Bible. Let's first clarify that the Bible does not address every single issue in life- but addresses the issues that God wants us to know.
Many Christians will say that the body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. And absolutely God does care about how we treat our bodies. God does care about the kind of diets we have, but i think we can agree that being overweight is not as dangerous for us as being on drugs.
A look at the New Testament Greek might help us understand God's clear prohbition against using drugs. There is a passage (i believe in Ephesians) where Paul refers to witchcraft and the word for witchcraft in the Greek is pharmacologica (where we get our word pharmacy). It is off course not referring to aspirin and stuff like that- but just like witchcraft (casting spells and whatever other weird stuff- puts people in an altered state- so also does the use of drugs). God does also teach for us to keep a clear mind.
i think we can see that in society in general drugs encourage things that are not godly. People steal, have sex for drugs, destroy families, lives, others, loved ones. So God's disapproval of it is for people's protection.
Yes i agree in extreme cases not exercising can cause grief to others but i don't think it's fair to put it on the same par as using drugs. And perhaps this is why God singles out that aspect in the Bible. It doesn't mean he cares any less about the person who is obese and can get a heart attack than the guy strung out on coke... it's just that God has the wisdom to know that drugs are a much larger and destructive social ill than a lack of exercise or being overweight. (incidentally i'm 110lbs and a short Asian guy so not sticking up for overweight people)... just giving you some thoughts and ideas.
Hope that helps. Kindly,
Nickster

You've answered your own question.
According to the Bible, the Believer's body is the Temple of God, which is home to the Holy Spirit.
Anything that may defile that Temple is a sin (overeating, undereating, fornication, drugs, alcohol, smoking, etc.).
Having a healthy lifestyle is important, because it enables you to more effectively do God's will and to glorify Him.
True, there are a lot of Christians who don't take care of themselves like they should, but they aren't going to Hell just because of that. They will, however, have to deal with the consequences of their choices... possible physical ailments and/or a shorter lifespan, etc.
The main reason why things like obesity, bad diets, and lack of exercise are so easily overlooked is because the effects of drug use are more obvious.
Generally, the symptoms of poor eating habits aren't noticeable until years down the road... diabetes, heart disease, etc., while the effects of drug use are more immediate and much harder to conceal.
GOD Bless!

Well in my religion even over eating is not considered good and we are told to eat enough to give us energy and to live and there are special manners of eating and tips given for good health, infact we should eat for living and should not live for eating
So i think God does not appreciate overeating even. though its not sin but its not good for health..but you can't compare food with drugs...as although fatty foods have its own way fo digestion and excess of fatty food is a burden for body system..but drugs are even worst..they have more side effects than fats, and are more harmful .

They're a means of pursuing delusions rather than seeking genuine inner peace and enlightenment. No one finds true spiritual enlightenment through the use of chemicals so using drugs is misguided.

definitely people who miss up with their bodies will be noticed and judged by god. but there is a big difference between fat food and drugs. drugs act like the highway to hell! fat food is so important to our bodies if it balanced.

There's nothing in the bible, to my knowledge (and I know a lot of bible) about drugs.
It's man and church says drugs are bad. I don't think drugs were around back then. (Except maybe LSD, from spoiled grain might have been possible).

I think it is more of trying to live in an altered reality. Alcohol, pills, etc...consuming you and taking the place of God in your life. You can take an aspirin, vicodin. You can have a couple beers or a bottle of wine. It is where they stand, in your desires and view, that is important.

wut r u crazy, if there was a god, why did he create the drugs, and the people to make the drugs and sell them to the people he created that use the drugs, and if there is a god why would he care if you do drugs, its just our culture which makes them seem so bad, its how people perceive the information brought to them and decide for the other that its bad, drugs arnt bad, and they arent good
