naughtycupcake. sounds liek you have a keloid to me... they can only be surgically removed. tea tree oil and sea salt soaks may minimize it...

I have 13 piercings, and one of my best friends has been a tattoo artist/piercer for 17 years.
He told me that your piercings can heal up if you just take out the jewelry. DO NOT MESS WITH IT, it will make it stay open if you irritate the healing hole with disinfectants, it will keep the sides of the opening from getting vitamin K, and healing closed, and what not.
I used to have my navel done, and I took it out after about a year, and the only thing that I have from it is a dot.
To whomever has a keloid.
A keloid is a calcium filled bubble that happens when a piercing, tattoo, permanent injection rejects the healing process. Its not an infection or anything, it just means that your body over-healed from rapid vitamin k production. If you squeeze the keloid gently, and rub isosporol rubbing alcohol on it a couple times a day ( when you get up, when you go to bed) and kinda massage it in, it will begin to dissipate kind of like a balloon filled with water.
Some people react differently to piercings, it all depends on your body. No matter what, you will still have scarring, because the jewelry you have in the opening is a foreign object, and by natural ways is not meant to be there.
Hope it all helps, make sure you keep your healing piercings clean!

Hey, you answered a few of my questions and there was one where I played the role of an idiot on purpose. Thanks for answering well, though. I was really just wondering if anyone on here was half capable of answering a question like that well. You did great though. I'd have e-mailed you, but that option wasn't availible, so I'm answering your question.
Not every hole will allways be there forever. It's dependant on how large it is *i have 0ga in my lobes, I don't think i'll ever see my ears looking quite normal again, let alone without holes* where it is *tongues are said to close within hours, though i had mine out for three days on two different occasions (yay for crisis care unit and taking the things that make you you) and had no problems getting it back in when it was at 14ga or 8ga* or how it was pierced *i think you know that the excess trauma caused by piercing guns would cause more scar tissue, and if you have a fistula lined with scar tissue it'll prolly never close once healed*
There are many factors in weather or not a hole will close, prolly more than I know offhand, but there's allways surgery and emu oil to help it along.

holes will close up if you get a new piercing and take it out for more than 24 hourse within the first year of having it pierced. Holes do close up, but the mark will always be on your ear.
I have a cartilage piercing and i have to wear an earing in it because it got infected once and there is a big lump in it. If i take it out it looks really wierd =). so, you can take it out when you get old, lol, dont worry, but ull probally have a little mark on your ear.
good luck and happy holidays =)

i got my navel pierced like 4 or 5 years ago and thought the hole would never close... now im 6 1/2 months pregnant and u know that wierd thing that belly buttons do when they turn inside out when you're pregnant? Yeah, well mine did that and i had to take my belly ring out cuz it just looked retarded... well now the exit hole is still open, but the entrance hole is like the size of a sewing needle... cant get ANYTHING through it.....

For some people, the holes from piercings can close up. For others it doesn't. Just like some you can tell because there's a faint scar, for others you can't. Also, some people will be able to re-pierce the hole easily with just a normal earring.

ALL piercings will close up eventually if left without jewelry in them. However, the long you have had the piercing, the longer it may take for the piercing to close up. I would say within a year they should be totally healed closed.

I don't think ear peircing holes will ever completely close up . Well, they might close but you will have scar. I had my ear peirced 6 times in one ear, 10 years ago and eventhough i only wear one set of earrings now and for the past 10 years, i still have people ask me how many time my ear is pierced. I hate it!

It completely depends on your body. My Lip and Eyebrow piercings close up very very fast, as do my ears. You shouldn't' have any problem. The only thing to watch out for is infection. If they get infected they can reject and scar. That would be the only thing you should have to worry about. Hope that helps.

It really depends how long it has been pierced for. usually the hole will shink but may never completely close. the cartilidge wont close, when it is pierced it is there for good. ive got some piercings that i havent worn in years and the holes are still there.
