My tooth is getting infected, i know because i have had an infected tooth before. I called the dentist and they cant get me in until the after the 1st of the year. Im afraid by then i will be in so much pain like last time. Does anybody know of anything over the counter or home remedies that will either get rid of or delay the infection from progressing until then. Please help, im afraid my christmas will be ruined by all the pain.

first of all, make it a habit to brush ur teeth twice a day, 1st soon as u wake up, n then before u go to bed at night, and after food wash ur mouth, n u can always use/smear clove oil on the infected tooth, and make sure u rinse ur mouth with listerine 2 or more times.

First of all, since your tooth is infected..that means antibiotics. Usually a dentist will give you antibiotics if the tooth is infected and later on bring you back to take care of it.

Since your dentist can't see you right away, I would suggest going to your regular Dr. And telling them about this. Chances are they can give you an antibiotic to take care of the infection. It's also infection that causes the pain, according to my dentist during a root canal.

Anyways, that will save you a step. What you can do is call up your Dr. and talk to a nurse there. I'm guessing they will say to come in, since you're certain it's infected.

You could try clove oil. If it gets bad enough, the emergency room at the hospital can look at you and at least prescribe some antibiotics and pain pills. I have a mouthful of bad teeth, so I know a little about this.

go to the pharmacy, not all have it, but ask for clove oil, you want pharmacy grade, not some cheap insense oil.

clove oil takes the pain away

thats what you want, if you can't get it, then maybe epsom salt might help.

Aspirin might help too

I would think the dentist could at least give you some pain killers while you wait.

I have found that warm water with a teaspoon of salt kept in the mouth for several minutes draws the poison out and i get immediate relief.

Use a toothpaste and mouthwash specifically for sensitive teeth. there are also a few pastes you can find in the toothpaste isle that numb the nerves in your teeth so you won't feel the pain (not recommended for long term use). Good luck and Merry Christmas!!

Keep calling different dentists until you find someone who can see you ASAP. It sounds like your regular dentist doesn't care if you're in pain or not.

Oh girl...I know how it is.. but theres really nothing that is going to take that pain away..but to keep it clean.. use salt water and wash throughout your mouth and to get to sleep at night.. Tylenol PM or NyQuil..

I'm sorry i know how much it hurts.. feels like your going to die from the pain.

good luck and best wishes
