Do you support it? Its my understanding he chose the name Benedict to signify that he intends to re-christianise Europe.
Is this a positive thing, or will it merely serve to open divisions?

I'm fairly sure he won't be forcibly converting anyone, maybe your putting too much stock in the word crusade.
I just put in the question because i though it would save me having to say the pope's european religious-battle-to- reconvert-people.

Definitely a good thing. Europe is sliding towards an atheist/socialist culture, and wasn't that already tried in the USSR? I believe it failed, didn't it?

To add to Susan:
We do not use the same Bible, but ours is the first. Protestant Bibles have been edited.
But the Gospels are one and the Same.
And Peter was given the Keys to Heaven by Christ, so that what ever he loosened on earth would be loosened in Heaven and what ever he bond would be bond.
And befor eHe returned to heaven He told Peter Specifically, care for His sheep, feed His sheep and Protect His sheep. This is in the Gospels, not the letters of St. Paul.
The Pope is teh successor to Peter, and in thu schrges with the same responsiblities. To use my Eastern brothers term, he is first among equals.
That said. I support Pope Benidict in the need to return Christ to Europe or Europe to Christ.

Good luck to him. People don't need to believe in such supersticious nonsense any more to explain the world. People know how the world was created, they know where life came from. We have established our moral codes. We have secular lifestyles now - we have no more need for religion. However, if he wants to convert people the way the original Christians did - by the sword then perhaps he would have more success. Then maybe people will see what the world's most violent religion really is.

The last Crusade in Europe killed 9 million pagans, 4 million muslims and 2 million jews
I dont think society will allow that injustice to humanity again.

Europe is a grown-up, pretty well informed continent which has learn some hard lessons and isn't terribly interested in any of the "isms" anymore, Catholicism included (with the possible exception of pragmatism).

He is trying to stop the flood, but the fact is, he is fighting a losing fight.
since Muslims are more religious than Christians, especially in Europe, soon the number of people praying in Mosques will be greater than those who pray in churches, that is in Europe.

He can intend what he wants. The fact is that Christianity has been diminished to such an extent in western Europe that it won't be coming back no matter what. It's gone never to return and no deluded cleric can change that.

Well, I missed the first series, so I'll be glad to participate. Do we have to bring our own swords or will they be provided? What about horses?

It would be a terrible thing for True Christians.
The Constantine/Vatican CULT has already blackened the name of Jesus so badly & most believe that the poop is the head of, and speaks for True Christianity.
BAD NEWS!
