I thought that President Bush was going to start pulling out our troops in Iraq. We don't need our young guys going over there & dieing like they did in Vietnam. I know that we need to protect our country but I hate to see young men & also young women dieing. Iraq needs to start taking a handle in there own things & let our young men & women return home.

How many of you realize that if it is world war 3, then the end times are upon us. The bible says that there will be rumors of war in the end times....

Iraq is a fake country, artificially created by the British. It will decompose. There is nothing anybody can now do about it.

Bush thought he could grab their oil and colonize the place. It ain't going to happen. Instead of cheap oil we will have expensive oil. And corruption and Islamism of the most fearful sort.

No it's not. Vietnam claimed the lives of almost 60,000 troops, most of them sent their against their will (draft). Iraq has claimed the lives of a mere 3,000 troops (I know every life counts, but come on it's no vietnam). Plus we have a volunteer army, everyone whos in Iraq signed up under their own free will for military combat. They are people who want to serve their country. Also Iraq was taken by the US in a matter of weeks, what we have right now is sectarian violence which is more similar to what occured post WWII in germany and japan. That's the problem with the analogy. Vietnam was never won.

..Thinking that we never took over a country in Nam like we did in Iraq, Id have to say this is a totally different situation. And yes, Bush was setting up a withdrawl plan until the elections. The Democratic Congress voted to STAY in Iraq and for Bush to make a new strategy, and then tried to push THE DRAFT back in America. They totally flip flopped on what they said to the public to get voted in.

Im usually 100% behind the government, and Bush is a pretty good president, not the best, but good (A hell of alot better than Kerry would have been) I supported CONGRESS voting to go into Iraq (Thats right, the President cant declare war, only Congress can).

But after we took out there 86,000 man Army, started a new government, captured there leader, and have killed 28,000-36,000 Iraqi Insurgents; AMERICAS JOB IS DONE. America fought for its own freedom against a world superpower w/ untrained soldeirs; Im guessing we can let Iraq fight against a few rebels w/ little military training w/ their new Army we trained for them.

We went in; we kicked @ss, our job is done. Now its time for us to withdrawl.

I don't believe it will become another Vietnam. Mainly because the support of this war by the American people has plummeted. During the Vietnam era you still had a large percentage of Americans that believed what their government told them. Over the last 40 years we've had Vietnam, Watergate, Iran/Contra, Lewinsky, etc. The politicians lies are becoming more quickly exposed. That doesn't mean we will be leaving Iraq in the next year, but it will speed up the process. Look for both political parties to include "getting out of Iraq" as one of their campaign promises in 2008.

This is much smaller and the loss of life is much smaller. That is of little consolation to the people who lost someone over there. But no, I believe that the people are seeing through the whole thing. The media is stronger now then in Vietnam. LBJ and Nixon lied to us for years and we did not know any different, now when Bush lies he is contradicted immediately.

It will if we don't tell the politicians to stay the HELL out of the decision process and let the Generals do what needs to be done. And put a gag order on the media till it is over. Those were the real reasons we "lost" in Vietnam.

Ummm, is that a question or a rant? My wager is there would nicely be a civil conflict in Iraq between the Sunnis, Shites and Kurds. yet i'm hoping not the Iraqui's have suffered sufficient between Saddam and the U. S..

The Iraqi government would love to take over if they could. They just don't have the training or equipment yet.
You might also want to review the history of Vietnam as well. Despite serious mismanagement at the higher levels, there were several opportunities to win that one, and to do so with fewer casualties than we suffered. The now-pervasive idea that it was "unwinnable" are simply untrue. It took both constant mismanagement and periodic major FUBARs to lose that one.
