I am the son of a dentist, I am 25 and can tell you from direct experiance:

1. It is not more painful than braces.
2. I have had metal braces
3. I have had clear braces
4. and a couple of weeks ago I received invisalign.

I can honestly say that invisalign is the best way to go, but depending on the amount of correction you need it may or may not work. Since you are only 12 I would recommend the good old fashion metal braces. The new technology makes them less painful and they work faster than anything else out there. If you put in the time now and remember to wear your retainer after your braces are done you'll be set for life!

Whatever you do be sure to wear the retainer every night after you have your braces off, otherwise your teeth will move and you will need braces again!

My 14 year old son was recommended this by his dentist. After getting a second opinion from an orthodontist, they found his problem was not treatable by invisalign. He actually wanted the regular braces. They are not as bad as they were when I wore them and you can get different colors every time you go for check ups. Plus you can't take out the regular braces. If you had invisalign, you'd be tempted to remove them and not wear them. I found them not to be any more expensive than regular braces, but a lot of my son's friends have braces and they look pretty cool.

there is no minimum age requirement, but there are some requirements.. You generally must have all of your adult teeth and they generally must be completly erupted. The purpose of invisaline is to correct the alignment of your teeth with miniamal discomfort and effectivness. i would contact your health care provider to ask what they would recomend in some cases invisaline is not an option based on sevarity of your case. only a professional can advise you on your special case. invisaline also calls for alot of dilligance and care be aware of what you are getting in to. good luck

there is no age limit, but invisalign hurts worse and is much much more expensive
