1. Strange things can happen with trees (and other plants) during periods of unseasonal weather (especially mild winters). I saw a leafless tree go into blossom during a mild spell in December 2001 in Hackney, East London.

My father planted two apple pips the day my brother was born; 27 January, 1960. One he left to grow wild and the other he pruned as per the expert advice. The trees both give apples now
