I am a young truth seeker, I believe the purpose of my life is to find the truth in everything around us. I'm not really talking about the truth behind the government or political things, however I am talking about spritual truth. I know that many people(Christian people) will look at this question and say "Jesus is the truth." Well... I have thought long and hard about this subject and I find it hard to believe in something that I have no reason to believe in. For the most part, at lease where I live, most christians become christians becuase either their parents are, their friends are, or becuase they are scared that they will go to "the bad place." Also I just don't feel it in my heart and soul as truth. Im not trying to put down christianity or tell you that you are wrong for being a christian, I'm just stating why I do not believe that to be truth. There are many other religions that 99% of the christians have never looked into....

I used to be a christian before I woke up to the idea that other religions and Ideas where out there.
I am thinking and wondering all the time, I have read books, done reiki, hummed mantras, meditated, and just about anything that most people would consider... well odd. Yet I still seem to have only small ideas on what the truth really is behind everything.
I still do not know who god is, or what the purpose behind all this really is. Some believe that it's impossible to find the truth, but I know, I can feel it burning in both my mind and my blood, the truth is out there and I know we are meant to find it.
Please comment on what you see as the truth, do you know somehting I don't?
Please no rude comments, I may have spelled some words wrong, please forgive me I typed this quickly.

And there is no point in a Christian looking into a bunch of religions. If you look into any one of them long enough it becomes quite obvious how idiotic they are as are Christians. With hundreds of religions out there why do you think one of them could possibly be right. That's why there are so many. They are all crap. A person doesn't need a religion to have a strong sense of what is right and to be a good person. It is called human dignity. No God can give it to you It comes from your environment and from being human. And thats the truth! xx

Good for you! Try no to discount a particular belief without reason, but also don't fall for one that makes weak promises or just doesn't agree with how you feel about yourself.
You probably already know that all the answers that say, "God knows!" are hogwash, and you will get a LOT of them. No single person knows everything, and no one can ever know it all. that's just the limitations of being human, but do not let that keep you from experiencing everything you can.

Maybe you should study other religious options there are many that don't worship god and Jesus. Pagans,Wicca, Hindu, far to many to name study each until you find one that truly fits you. The fact that you realize that Christianity doesn't feel right to you is a start so now go find one that does. Good Luck and Blessed Be

Dear Michael,
First of all thank you for your sincerity. It is true that a lot of people become Christians because they are brought to church by their parents, etc. in the same way that many people become buddhists, muslims, catholics, etc.
That does not mean however that everyone is like that. i know of quite a few books of Christians who started out as skeptics and after doing their personal search for truth came to the conclusion that Jesus is indeed the way, the truth, and the life. However, instead of just giving you a list of books- i'd actually like to hear from you and hear what your experiences are-- and perhaps i can kindly address some of your hangups with Christianity, etc.
i think your thoughts about why people become Christians are a bit off. And more than that, the Bible does teach that many who profess to be Christians aren't really... People don't follow Christ because of fear of going to hell... they follow Him because they love Him and have discovered what He has taught to be truth. (As you said perhaps - this is your experience where you live).
i am a youth/college pastor and i know that there is nothing more important in life than to know the truth about God. i'd really love to help you and refer you to some resources that you can check out on your own and come to your own conclusion. i grew up not going to church and didn't know Christ until i was 18 so i came to my own conclusions based on personal study. Feel free to email me so i can understand and know you better before advising you.
Hope that helps. Kindly,
Nickster

I was experiencing that feeling as well, and felt a little bad because I had nothing against Christianity...but I found the path that rang true to me..yes it felt like home. I accept and respect all paths, but I believe we are all on different paths to the same end and what is true to you is what matters! Follow your heart. Best wishes to you on your soul searching!
Bright blessings indeed!!!

The purpose of life from one view point, is the search for truth, in humbleness, in contentment, and in constant seeking.
When you find a good branch, lean on it, let it support you till you can reach a higher plane of thought from that branch.
The minute you consider yourself safe, on that branch, you will grow too fat with your pride for it to support you.
God, is Endless.
Since the Artist is Endless, so shall be the search for His art, and His approval.

1) An ancient greek called Sokratis said : "Only one thing I know, that I know nothing".
2)Reading the Bible you will find somewhere the following : "Seek for the truth and it shall be REVEALED to you".
Having those two in mind I think it will help you.
Good luck in your conquest.

But you do have a reason to believe in Jesus. He is your key to eternal life. Why look into the other 99% when the answer is all around you?
