My daughter fainted for the first time a few months ago. She was really tired and stressed and had gotten up out of bed and went into the bathroom and all I hear is a thump...and a minute later "Mom I think I fainted...help!" I ran up and found her on the floor...lucky she didn't crack her head open.

I got her checked out and all was fine...they said "it happens" to teens quite often.

I know my mom has been sick and weak and anemic for many years due to Crohn's...and she is dizzy and sees "black" ANY TIME she gets up.

I think it's just the way some people are made up in part too and they're just frail at the best of times.... but when you rise suddenly and quickly the blood rushes out of your head so fast your head can spin or you can pass out.

It's like a hangover...ever tried to get up fast with a hangover...ugggh....enough to make you stop drinking for good.

I think you need to just get lots of sleep, eat well, de-stress, and take care of yourself. Your body can only handle so much. If you tend to be weak and sickly too, then it's even worse as you may not be able to do much about it, other than to rise slowly and be conscious of your movements all the time.

Try having Carnation Instant Breakfast shakes and protein shakes and anything where you get a lot of nutrients into you daily. I make sure my kids have one each morning...throw several bananas in there too and a slice of toast with peanut butter for protein so your brain gets well lubed for the day. That's what you need in the morning, when you are "starved"...that should help with the dizziness and tiredness too.

Could be a lot of things. First are you well nourished. Not eating or drinking enough can cause you to become lightheaded and even pass out. Second it could be high blood pressure, how much salt do you eat?? Beyond that there are so many causes for becoming faint. Anaemia which is a problem with the amount of iron in blood. Or if your using drugs or alcohol that could be it too. But honestly to me it sounds like malnourishment. Go drink a glass of OJ.

When you get up too fast the blood rushes away from the brain and you feel faint. Best to take your time and if feeling faint then sit with head lowered between knees -gets the blood back to brain and you'll feel better.

I have experienced something similar since I was a teenager. In fact, I do not remember making my graduation speech, walking down he aisle on my wedding day, making speeches in high school competitions, and many more important and high stressed events of my life. For me, the situation improved when I started Zoloft. It was prescribed for depression but has also been effective with my anxiety.

you blacked out cos you didn't get enough oxygen to your brain-it drained down to your feet when you were sitting. Thus your body's coping mechanism causes you to faint to eliminate the effect of gravity on your blodd and to increase the blood flow to your brain once your body is horizontal. People who tend to have this more often are those with low blood pressure, anaemia or elderly, so basically next time you try to stand up....do it gradually!!

(nodding) You should talk to your doctor about this and keep a track of how often it happens. It could be that you aren't eating enough food during the day or not getting enough of the 'right' stuff... i.e. vegetables, fruit, milk, etc.

It could also be the lack of fibre in your system (a.k.a. white blood cells), which would require you to eat (once again) foods that are high in fibre (molasse cookies, cereals, etc.) Or of course, ask you doctor about multi-vitamins that have a high percentage of fibre.

Your blood pressure drops quickly and this causes you to get light headed, dizzy and can even cause you to pass out. It is not common to just teenagers, it happens to anyone of any age.

It could be low blood pressure of low blood sugar. If you skip meals it might be the later. Get a doctor's checkup just to rule out anything serious.

I think it is caused by a sudden drop in blood pressure due to a change in your position. I wouldn't worry about it unless it happens often or you actually pass out.

if you were fit and healthy in all other respects and had eaten and drunk normally, not alcohol obviously, then i would say it was your blood pressure that made you faint. SHould get a doc to check it as fit strong teenagers shouldn't really be keeling over. better safe than sorry
